Reports to: U.S. Controller
Compensation range: $100,000 - $115,000 plus bonus potential of 10-15K

The incumbent will report to the U.S. Controller, and will manage all financial accounting, financial reporting and control activities for the Spine Division in the U.S.

• Establish financial policies, procedures and control measures to insure all U.S. based expenditures are identified, controlled, tracked, reported and analyzed in a timely manner, in accordance with U.S. GAAP, SOX and Stryker Corporation financial policies.
• Assist with the financial closing process.
• Report all actual results to the Corporate office via Hyperion system.
• Manage all general ledger accounts and the related account reconciliations.
• Manage the capital appropriation process and the fixed asset system.
• Document and enforce all internal control policies and procedures.
• Manage the payroll function, which is outsourced to a third party service provider.
• Prepare monthly projections and annual budgets of P&L, balance sheet and cash flow.
• Participate on cross-functional project teams.

Bachelor's in Accounting and CPA required
Masters and CMA preferred

• 10+ years experience in accounting / finance roles, both public and private industry experience a must.
• A "business person" with a specialty in Finance & Accounting.
• Industry experience with a company that makes and sells products.
• Experience preparing budgets, forecasts and long-term plans.
• Experience managing accounting functions, including month and year end financial closings and related analysis.
• Experience managing both professional and clerical staff.
• Working knowledge of integrated financial systems (i.e. ORACLE) plus systems such as Hyperion Enterprise and Cognos OLAP
• Advanced PC skills in the use of MS Office products.
• Excellent people skills, communications skills – both written and oral and organizational skills.
• Ability to interface will all areas of the company, i.e. marketing, R&D, Sr. Management etc.,

On Tuesday evening, May 4th, there will be a combined dinner meeting for current members, alumni, and guests of IT-Networking, MIS Network Associates (MNA), Monmouth Networking, The Breakfast Club NJ (TBCNJ), ETP Network, and Careers in Transition (CIT) at the Holiday Inn, Totowa, NJ.  Ed Steinberg will present on the current status and use of LinkedIn.
 
Ed joined LinkedIn in 2008 where he is a Sr Relationship Manager responsible for handling all renewals for clients. His job is to make sure that each client gets the most out of LinkedIn.
Ed provides unique recruiting solutions for employers that improve the quality of their hires while maximizing  their productivity and effectiveness. Following our usual meeting format, after you have registered and added your resume, etc. to the handout piles, everyone will participate in a series of informal networking groups i.e. "speed dating", before we sit down for dinner and the general introductions.  Briefly, these informal groups last for approximately 10 minutes.  At the end of the 10 minutes, the groups disperse, and new ones are formed with different participants.  Suggested dialogues for the groupings will be provided at the registration desk.
 
There will be an opportunity to circulate up to 50 copies of your resume, personal bio, leads, or other appropriate material in a handout from the dinner.

Job Description:
The Manhattan campus of Yeshiva University seeks an Assistant Manager, Systems Programming & Research to report to the Manager, Systems Programming and Research. The Assistant Manager will provide state-of-the-art, flexible, stable and easy to maintain data systems that allow users to manage departmental data.
Responsibilities
• Design and write informal programming specifications or database designs to enable staff to code new applications or develop program modifications and enhancements.
• Assist the Manager in the development of a plan for systems testing and enhancements.
• Meet with departments to provide guidance and advice on designing and creating new systems or enhancing existing systems.
• Provide support for all reported system problems (mainframe/server applications such as: Payroll, Purchasing, EDI, A/P, General Ledger, etc.) through user contact, research and resolution or assignment to staff for resolution.
• Provide assistance and direction to other ITS areas in resolving user problems.
• Review all user security request forms for access to the mainframe, determine any missing information that is required, and research the details to provide the access requested. Perform the security updates required or assign to an authorized staff member.
• Develop standard operating procedures.
• Use CA-Dataquery to produce Ad-hoc reports or Dialogs for users to run their own reports. Run on-request jobs as needed.
• Convert mainframe mailing files and reports into PC type files (Excel, Word, comma-delimited text, etc).
• Summarize and recap staff status reports for departmental status report - Weekly
• Oversee financial reporting to the government (W-2's, 1099's and 1042's). - Yearly.
Requirements:
• BA/BS with a major in Computer Science or Mathematics or a combination of education and five to six years of supervisory experience plus at least five years of systems programming experience.
• Technical experience in Cobol, CA-Vision-Builder, CA-Vollie, CA-Dataquery, CA-Datacom-DB, IBM VSE/EBA operating system, VSE JCL, CA-Sort, Top Secret; Java, SQL, Oracle, .NET, Report2Web and Windows Server knowledge are also important.
• Ability to communicate well with others.
• Ability to work well with others.

Additional Information:
The Assistant Manager will be a "player/coach," responsible for analytical work as well as managing a staff of six professional employees (programmers, project leader, systems analysts). The Assistant Manager will hire, train and evaluate staff, as well as assign work, review statuses and provide guidance to complete programming and database changes for IBM mainframe, servers and the Web.

4. Must be comfortable in a 24x7 shop with on call pager coverage (1 week

· In collaboration with the Information Integration teams, define,
develop, maintain, and communicate information exchange standards that will
be used by downstream systems.

· Align Enterprise Information Architecture efforts with other
Enterprise Architecture/ Information Management counterparts to ensure
overall alignment of architecture components.

Keys to This Position:

The individual will meet with the Fixed Income and Equity Systems Managers
to understand their needs in regards to Data Information workflow. Then the
individual will communicate that to the technical architects who will
implement the technical solution. Someone that is deeply technical is not
the right person - it is more of an Analyst role.

1. Domain knowledge: The candidate must have a strong knowledge of the
Asset Management industry and how the business operates. Ideally the
candidate will come from another asset management firm.

2. Information Architecture skills: The candidate will have a focus at a
Lead Systems Analyst level in the areas of Information/Data Architecture and
Integration, Data Modeling, Business Intelligence, Data Warehousing, etc.

3. Must have strong Client Relationship and Leadership skills. This
individual will interface with the Investment Systems team and the
Investment Data team among others. Experience understanding Fixed Income,
Equities and Derivatives is important.

4. This individual will be very similar to a Lead Systems Analyst, but in
the Data Architecture space. The individual needs a deep knowledge of the
Asset Management business (i.e. Fixed Income, Equities, etc.) and the
underlying business process and the Data that facilitates the Workflow.

Required Skills and Competencies:

· Master's degree in software or systems engineering, computer
science, information systems management or the equivalent.

· At least 10 years progressive experience in enterprise
information/data related disciplines, i.e., data modeling, architecture and
integration.

· Proven experience in developing information architectures aligned
with information lifecycle management within financial services.

· Proven experience performing conceptual, logical and physical data
modeling with data modeling tools (Erwin/ModelMart) and database design in
complex, large-scale data environments.

· Proven experience in transactional data modeling (3NF),
dimensional modeling and object oriented modeling. Proven experience in
developing scalable design of entities using advanced data structures (e.g.,
tall tables) is a plus.

· Knowledge of application modeling languages/techniques (e.g., UML,
OML, entity relationship modeling, DFDs) including the ability to create and
read the associated diagrams.

· Proven experience creating enterprise models incorporating master
and reference data.

· Experience in creation of data dictionaries, defining metadata
management approaches and governance processes.

· Experience in developing and implementing IT architecture plans,
Enterprise Information Architecture standard and guidelines, software
development methodologies and strategic plans.

· Experience in developing data sharing standards and architecting
scalable service oriented solutions.

· Solid understanding of transaction and information systems, data
warehouses, data marts, ODS, MDM methodologies and life cycle as well as ETL
and MDM technologies.

· Strong facilitation skills to engage subject matter experts to
define data requirements and conduct data modeling design reviews with
project teams.

· Strong analytical and problem solving skills.

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills, able to explain
and document the Enterprise Information Architecture to diverse audiences
(technical, business, etc).

· Highly self-directed and able to manage and prioritize multiple
concurrent and competing challenges, issues, ambiguities, and
contradictions.
