Job Description: Montclair State University (MSU) invites applications and nominations for the position of Executive Director-Enterprise Systems Implementation Project. This position reports directly to the President with a reporting relationship to the Executive Steering Committee consisting of the Vice President for Finance and Treasurer, Chief Information Officer, Vice President for Student Development and Campus Life, Vice President for Human Resources, Vice President for University Advancement or their designees. The Executive Director will have full-time on site responsibility for the effective and successful implementation of the new Enterprise System. This is a non-tenured, management appointment with eligibility for reappointment on an annual basis during the term of the implementation. Enterprise Systems Implementation, which is called the Bell Tower Initiative (BTI) project, will replace the current MSU financial, budget, human resources, and student administrative applications with the Oracle/PeopleSoft suite of products. Additionally, the project scope encompasses development of an enterprise portal and data warehouse with associated business analytics functionality. To be successful, the project will require a high degree of collaboration across the divisions of the University and the demonstrated ability to orchestrate this collaboration is critical. Given the scope and magnitude of the project, the estimated period for completion is three years. The major responsibility of this position is to implement the BTI project on time and on budget. While clearly requiring mastery of a highly technical subject matter, the position is essentially an executive management function and requires highly developed people skills associated with the management of a complex project, including the ability to communicate, convince and motivate. The duties of this position will include, but will not be limited to, the following areas of responsibility within the Bell Tower project: * Project Management - Overall planning and execution of the project, including identifying and managing project scope, risks, issues, costs, quality assurance, sequence, schedule, performance and on-going advice and coaching for the University project managers. * Contract Administration - Serve as the primary contact with one or more software, hardware and consulting vendors for the project. Project oversight will include activities such as change management, status meetings with vendors, budget controls and consultant and contractor performance monitoring. * Communications with Communities of Interest on Overall Implementation - Frequent communications with the Executive Steering Committee for the Bell Tower Initiative, meetings with the President and the President's Cabinet, as well as with other stakeholders to ensure timely and accurate communication. * Assure Appropriate Participation in Effective Operations - Ensure appropriate planning to address staff training needs and correctly integrate all facets to take each project phase from implementation to production. Qualifications & Requirements:The successful candidate must have an earned bachelor's degree from an accredited institution with higher education experience; verifiable success managing large PeopleSoft ERP projects, complex, technology implementation projects with contracts, vendors and organizations; in-depth knowledge of business process re-engineering concepts, best practices and applications; proven ability to manage highly complex situations and relationships; demonstrated project leadership, contract change control and project management skills; effective interpersonal and organizational communication skills; results orientation; and a minimum of five years progressive experience directly applicable to the position. Advanced degree and Project Management Professional (PMP) credential preferred. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: The successful candidate must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities.
