(Annuity or Life Insurance)
CLIENT COMPANY:
We are a leading provider of fixed deferred and immediate annuities and life insurance products to financial service professionals and their clients across the United States. They are a listed Company with $300 million in revenue, a 13% increase over the previous year and approximately $3.7 billion in assets. .
REPORTING
RELATIONSHIP
The Chief Accounting Officer will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer, and will have a significant and integral interaction with the other members of the senior management team.
MISSION STATEMENT & PURPOSE:
The core business strategy is to expand the individual annuity business and to increase the risk-adjusted returns on invested capital by prudently managing investment spreads and investment risk.
Key elements to this strategy are:
• Expand Regional Platform into National Platform.
• Broaden Annuity Product Offerings to include all four major product types.
• Build on existing distribution channels.
• Enhance investment spread capabilities.
• Focus high quality service to Agents and Policyholders.
POSITION:
While this is not a new position, the Chief Accounting Officer will provide enhanced leadership and vision.
Supported by a professional and dedicated staff, the Chief Accounting Officer will have responsibility for the General Accounting, Governmental and SEC reporting, Financial Planning and Analysis, and a strong understanding of taxes.
Specifics will include, but are not limited to the following:
• Responsible for GAAP and NYS Statutory reporting compliance.
• Responsible for SEC filings (10Q, 10K, Proxy, Form 4, etc.).

• Responsible for financial reporting oversight for all business functions.
• Responsible for Accounting and Corporate policy and procedure development.
• Drive the Annual Operating Budget process
o Revenue enhancement
o Cost Analysis
• Support Strategic Planning and Capital Analysis, as well as M&A activities.
• Responsible for Cash Flow Management
• Responsible for the Corporate Insurance Program (Errors & Omissions and Director & Officers)
• Will give input to the ERM Committee
• Work with the CFO in establishing a new non-New York State domiciled entity (49 & 1) that will be used for new product development.
• Support the CFO in migrating the company from an investment company orientation to a more insurance product orientation.
EXPERIENCE:
• Must have insurance industry experience within an Annuity or Life company to adequately administer the complexities of the position.
• Must be a CPA with a graduate degree preferred.
• Must have demonstrated experience in Statutory reporting, inclusive of NYS, GAAP Accounting Principles, SEC and Management Reporting, Financial and Operational Controls.
• Proficient in Fair Value accounting.
• Proficient in planning, analysis and budgeting a must.
• Strong knowledge of financial systems and adept at profitability systems.
• Working knowledge of actuarial concepts greatly preferred.
• History of staff development and mentoring.
COMPENSATION:
Compensation will depend upon experience necessary to satisfy the requirements of the position. Compensation package includes a competitive base and a performance bonus, plus potential for equity (stock options) and benefits.
