Primary Purpose: The incumbent will be part of a team whose main responsibility is over-seeing the corporation's Storage Area Network and Server Virtualization infrastructure. Responsibilities include the design, maintenance and full ownership of system components. Storage infrastructure includes HPXP24000, HP EVA, HP MSA and NetApp storage arrays, Brocade SAN switches andfiber cabling. Server virtualization Infrastructure is built on Intel basedservers running VMWare vSphere. The team is also responsible for all of thesoftware and tools required for administration, maintenance and reporting of the two infrastructures. The various tools used to monitor and maintain theinfrastructure include Quest vFoglight, Brocade SAN Health, HP Command View, XP Performance Advisor, VMWare vCenter, HP SIM, NetApp SANScreen and NetApp OnCommand suite of tools, among various other utilities. Other areas of responsibility include Windows server administration, HP SIM administration, assisting with Backup policy troubleshooting and administration and occasionally assisting the Active Directory, and Messaging team. Incumbent will participate in an on-call rotation with other team members to support all system related issues on a 24x7 basis.
The successful individual will leverage their proficiency to... · Responsible for the developing solutions, enforcing standards, and managing capacity for an enterprise level environment. · Creating and updating of documentation related to the services provided by this team. · Assist in the research of enhancements to current environment based on new products, services and best practices learned from various sources (vendor demonstrations, trade magazines, internet resources, etc.) · Interact with server administrators, database administrators and project managers to insure proper business alignment between business strategy and infrastructure needs, goals and initiatives · Monitoring the health of the Storage and Virtualization systems. · Provisioning of storage and virtualresources as requested by partners. · Troubleshooting of system and storage connectivity issues. · Troubleshooting of performance issues for Storage and Virtualization systems. · Generating reports, both ad-hoc andscheduled, using the various tools available. · Regular patching and firmware upgrades for the multiple components. · Working with vendors to help resolve on-going issues. · Using various scripting technologies to help automate processes and procedures where applicable. · The Systems Analyst position on theStorage and Virtualization team requires a highly motivated and experiencedengineer interested in participating in global projects and designing infrastructure solutions with advanced emerging technologies. In this fast paced environment, the incumbent will have the ability to design and deliver solutions as well as break down and troubleshoot issues in a timely manner.This person would also need to have the ability to explain the different technologies to all levels of partners, knowing when to provide specific details versus when to describe the technology at a higher level.
The accomplished individual will possess... · Bachelor degree in computer science or equivalent work experience. · 5+ years of experience managing large Enterprise VMware (ESX\ESXi\Virtual Center) environments. · 5+ years of Storage and SAN administration, preferably working with HP and/or NetApp arrays. · 5+ years of SAN switch administration, preferably Brocade switches. · 2+ years of experience with VMWare high availability technologies. (i.e. HA, DRS, vMotion and Storage DRS) · 2+ years of experience of installing and maintaining Virtual Platform monitoring systems, measuring system performance and capacity. · 2+ years of performance and troubleshooting of storage connectivity issues.
