Senior Systems Administrator 6+ Months.
Location: Des Moines, IA.
This position is responsible for the operations, administration, monthly maintenance, system security and integrity of UNIX & LINUX based servers supporting clients.
This includes serving as a technical resource to less experienced team members, internal / external customers, hardware / software vendors, systems analysis, systems architecture, systems design and documentation, systems monitoring to support new and existing software installations, configurations, standards, and system backups as they pertain to the client.
Supporting Environments: Development, Quality Assurance, Isolated Test Facility.
Essential Functions: 65% Ensures UNIX & LINUX server hardware/software and respective operating systems are running efficiently by diagnosing, performing maintenance, troubleshooting, patching, debugging issues and providing support for end users.
Supports the storage area network (SAN) and prepares SAN storage reports. Works closely with the Application Development team, Database Administrators, and Middleware Administrators. Proactively develops and maintains system documentation that is accurate and updated regularly.
10% Assists management with recommendations for improvement and implements new systems and upgrades. Installs, test and evaluates new hardware and software.
10% serves as point of contact with customers to ensure issues are researched and resolved timely and accurately.
10% Partners with various team members in ensuring applications and databases are installed, configured, and running appropriately, integration of communications between Web Servers, Application Servers, and Database Servers and ensuring user access to systems is accurate.
5% performs miscellaneous duties as assigned.
Requirements: Four year degree in Computer Science or related field and/or equivalent training and/or experience; 5 to 10 years experience in data processing, including the most recent 4 years experience in a combination of: UNIX (IBM AIX, SUN SOLARIS, HPUX), LINUX, SAN Storage (IBM, EMC), ORACLE (RMAN, RAC, Grid Control), Tivoli, Veritas NetBackup and Large Tape Libraries; demonstrated understanding of internal system and Networking components; 3 years experience in data center environments with 100+ systems.
