Digital Disruption - Part II

Welcome to Part II of the Breakfast Clubs focus on"Digital Disruption".   In Part II, our Speaker George Pace willtake us on a journey that will help answer the question 

What can I do to "Keep Pace" with DigitalDisruption so that my skill sets remain current?

The presentation which isentitled "Your Career Curriculum" will guide participants thru thefollowing:

- Examine various Digital Technologies by identifying the disruption they are causing - and the opportunities they are creating 

- Reviewing root causes as to why it's hard to stay current

- Introduce the concept of a "Career Horizon" and why it's critical to evolving your career

- Developing your own "Career Curriculum" - and identifying the Core and Elective Classes specific to you

- Techniques and technologies you can leverage to begin implementing that curriculum

Our Moderator: This presentation will be conducted by George Pace, whohas had a diverse career in IT spanning a wide range of disciplines andtechnologies. He continues to 'Keep Pace' with leading edge technologies suchas Cloud Computing, Big Data and Social Media and is sharing his insights onhis YouTube Channel. George holds a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science fromSeton Hall University and an MBA from the Rutgers Business School–Newark andNew Brunswick.

The Alternatives Systems Team is responsible for supporting and providing

* Work closely with members of the firm's IT teams. Actively

Position Summary:

My client's Legal and Compliance Support team is seeking a systems analyst
to join the team supporting their Legal, Regulatory, and, Investment
Compliance IT functions. The team provides a high level of automation and
tools to ensure the Firm remains in compliance with all client-mandated,
regulatory, investment, trading, personnel, and, other restrictions.
Qualified applicants must possess a strong knowledge of technology,
investment, and financial services. Candidates must also possess excellent
communication skills, be self-motivated, willing to work in an energetic,
fast-paced and team-oriented group. The ability to manage multiple
priorities is required. This position requires some partial early, late and
weekend shift coverage.

Responsibilities:

Daily activities and responsibilities for this role include, but are not
limited to:

* Answering Investment, Trading, and, Regulatory Compliance systems
questions in an expeditious manner

* Interacting with Compliance analysts and managers directly,
providing answers to their queries and helping resolve production issues as
they arise

* Monitoring application health, escalating issues, facilitating
incident bridges

* Support of technology located on the firm's Compliance desks

* Strong sense of ownership to see issues or tasks from
start-to-finish

* Show initiative in attempting to tackle problems creatively and
self-sufficiently

* Researching reported problems. Generating story level
enhancements or bug defects via existing technical tools and process
methods.

* Partnering with firm-wide technology analysts, developers and QA
staff in researching problems

* Development of self -service tools, applications and reports for
end users

* Operational readiness and rollout of new versions of applications

* Test new technology and vendor interfaces into the firm's
applications

* Strong motivation and ability to work in a fast-paced,
team-oriented environment supporting business critical applications

* Some project management responsibilities

* Ability to multi-task project/enhancement work along with support
related activities

* Contribute to the development of internal and external
documentation and processes

* Appropriately escalate or seek collaboration when needed

Required Skills and Competencies:

* BS degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience

* Minimum of 3 to 5 years' experience supporting or working with
Financial Systems and/or Compliance Applications

* Must have very strong SQL skills

* Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills

* Client-oriented

* Familiarity with Pre-trade, Trading, and compliance systems

* Experience with LatentZero Sentinel would be very desirable
(front-end and back-end)

* Experience with Java, Spring, Hibernate desirable

* Knowledge of Relational Database Systems

* Proven ability to learn and tie business concepts to application
workflows and back-end database and table designs

* Coding and executing SQL scripts

* Experience with Oracle PL/SQL Stored Procedures

Keys to this Position:

1) Domain: Compliance knowledge is our first choice. We will also
look at candidates that have Front Office Investment or Trading knowledge.
Knowledge of Latent Zero is highly desired.

2) This role is more Support than traditional Systems Analysis, therefore
the role involves answering Investment, Trading, and, Regulatory Compliance

3) Technical: Must be able to query the database with SQL. The ability

The next Northern Fairfield Professionals (NFP) meeting is Tuesday, April 14th from 5:30 - 8 pm.

Our guest speaker Michael Shavel from CT Department of Labor presenting on Job Search Strategies.

NFP is where people meet to expand their network connections, as well as learn the tools needed to advance their careers. Business professionals from all industries and career levels are welcome to attend our monthly meetings.

Our philosophy is to build reciprocal relationships where business professionals can exchange ideas, job leads, and build networking skills.

We usually have a guest speaker discuss a topic of interest for business professionals.

Northern Fairfield Professionals (NFP) meets the 2nd Tuesday of every month from 5:30 - 8 pm. Attendance to NFP is free.

Networking from 5:30-6:00pm with a speaker presentation from 6:00pm to 7:30. Networking until 8 pm.
