VOIP Support Engineer

Job Description

The VOIP Support Engineer position is based out of  the company's office in Newark, New Jersey. The primary responsibility of this position is to provide pre sale engineering support and post sales operating support (Tier 2 support) to SIP Trunking and Aggregator customers. Candidates for this position should have experience deploying and supporting Cisco Unified Communications (voice) products, Avaya premise PBX(IP)  as well as open source applications such as Asterisk.

Responsibilities:

  1. Experience in Cisco Unified Communication provisioning, installation, configuration and troubleshooting.
  2. Experience in troubleshooting Avaya products as well as Asterisk based solutions.
  3. Knowledge of LAN / WAN networking, servers, workstations, operating systems and applications.
  4. Be able to interact with our customers professionally and technically.
  5. Work with our internal carrier groups on termination issues.
  6. Work with our Engineering, Development and QA groups on new rollouts when needed.

 Qualifications:

¡   Minimum of three years of related network / IP Telephony administration and support.

¡   Strong working knowledge of CUCM (Call Manager),Cisco Voice Gateways Avaya IP Office gateways and Asterisk based applications.

¡   Excellent problem solving, debugging /troubleshooting skills are required.

¡   Experience using network protocol analyzers suchas Wireshark / Ethereal a must.

¡   Knowledge of Voice protocols (SIP, MGCP, H.323)

This candidate will be     responsible Mining potential targets for deployment from the SCCM inventories based on a target matrix. Assessing targets identified by Client Services for hardware refresh based a target matrix. Working with the Domain application owners to ensure they have availability to the Windows 7 VDI platform for application remediation. The candidate will also be required to manage the and schedule in-place upgrades of devices for Windows 7. The candidate will manage the work efforts of two resources for in-place upgrades in New Jersey and New York.
