Description:

The Infrastructure project manager will provide direction, guidance and judgment on new IT infrastructure project initiatives. The position requires an understanding of all cross channel (direct, retail) and corporate IT business functions; focused on Network, Data Center, Shared Services, Telephony and end point implementations and related systems.



The ideal candidate will also possess knowledge of Infrastructure operations, service delivery and support, help desk and related services. This individual will manage the project work and project budget acting on variances from the plan as well as bringing the projects to closure, documenting project execution by creating a body of knowledge, and suggesting process improvements for future projects.



Duties and Responsibilities:

Essential Functions:

Responsibilities


Demonstrate broad knowledge of Enterprise Technology Infrastructure solutions.

Performs the overall day-to-day management of the project to ensure that project objectives are achieved within time/cost/quality constraints

Responsible for project documentation including project plan, status reports.

Responsible for ensuring that project business and IT requirements are captured and documented.

Reports project progress to the steering group to ensure the project�s overall direction and integrity

Performs management of the risks of the project, including the development of contingency plans

Manage project scope and change control and escalate issues where necessary to PMO Director

Liaise with any vendors or suppliers in relation to the project.

Liaise with the Quality Assurance team to ensure that project is tested and that test plans are aligned with project requirements.

Directs and motivates the project team

Facilitate project and update meetings

Take responsibility for overall progress and use of resources.

Ensure project objectives are understood and met, ensuring that the Project Team members understand the requirements

Ensure all groups are adequately consulted and are satisfied with each deliverable as it effects their specialist area

Track and report project actual expenditures as compared to the budget and effectively manage the project to successful completion within tolerances.

Manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.




Education and Experience


5-7 years project management experience.

Project Management Professional certification (PMP) or equivalent experience

4 years Technology Infrastructure Project experience including corporate and store network, infrastructure, telephony, endpoint device, application

HW/SW installation support

Knowledge of Cisco enterprise solutions and Sun solaris enterprise solutions a plus

Bachelors Degree or higher with a concentration in science/engineering and/or engineering management

Strong track record of project delivery and benefits realization

Experience in defining, implementing and coaching others in IT Project Management methodologies

· Demonstrated experience in having successfully managed an application support / production support organization.
· Knowledge of COBIT or ITIL is desirable.
· Demonstrated experience in financial planning and analysis with previous experience overseeing human resources, information technology, and legal.
· Skills should include organizational development, personnel management, budget and resource development, and strategic planning; demonstrated success developing and monitoring systems to manage both operational and programmatic work that involve high levels of collaboration.
· Excellent people skills with an ability to partner with a dynamic leadership team.

The candidates filling these Technical Project Lead positions effectively
leads, coordinates and oversees work across IT projects within a department
and/or across departments. In this capacity, the incumbent assumes
responsibility for overall project management tasks and activities from
original concept through final implementation. The Technical Project Lead
collaborates with stakeholders to formulate project scope for the management
of large projects or several smaller independent projects. The incumbent
manages all aspects of project, from beginning to end, with direct
accountability for project execution while leading a team, or teams, to
accomplish specific objectives in a given time frame with available
resources and within defined budgets. The Technical Project Lead is
responsible for reporting status, risks, and issues to higher level
management. Additionally, The Technical Project Lead collaborates with
internal groups and external vendors to assure the timely completion of all
scheduled tasks.

Responsibilities

The ideal candidate will be responsible for:

* Develop relationships and work with internal development teams or
external vendors to define project plan, schedule and hand-off processes and
deliverables.
* Develop detailed development/data-migration project plans and work
breakdown structures using Project.
* Hold regular project status and planning meetings to track team
member progress against assigned tasks.
* Act as primary point of contact for outsourced development projects,
coordinate works and schedules with internal IT teams and functional areas.
* Manage client communications and expectations, negotiate project
schedules with users as required.
* Maintain accountability for on-time, on-schedule completion of
system development and data migration projects.
* Coordinate cost estimate response within group project scope.
* Assure compliance to tasks and deliverables as identified in the
software development lifecycle including entrance and exit criteria for
Requirements Definition, Analysis, Design, Coding, Testing, Implementation,
and the transition to production operations.
* Lead and assure project team member compliance in Change Management,
Issue Management, Release Management, and Operational Readiness.
* Lead application/infrastructure and architecture subprojects within
an ongoing large-scale production environment.
* Monitor cost estimate efforts and related project work
* Create project schedules and oversee their accuracy and status
reporting
* Mentor and coach less experienced staff and align team members to
project-related objectives
* Escalation of project risk and proposed mitigations to project
sponsors
* Project plan and schedules
* Usability requirements/directions to development to ensure
satisfaction and clarification of user needs
* Successful integration with existing systems

Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Experience:

* The ideal candidate reports to a Manager, Director or Executive
director. This role functions independently on a daily basis processing of
outputs and deliverables in the escalation of project risks & proposed
mitigations, project plan and schedules.
* Experience in usability requirements/directions to development
ensuring customer satisfaction and clarification of user needs.
* Successful on-boarding of new programs and data migration.
* People Management skills, required to handle the criticality of
moderate to high risks issues leadership role in delivering output on time
and in budget.
* Complexity experience in handling high level, work is non-routine
and complex with high level of judgment and reasoning required.
* This position requires the candidate to work across organization at
multiple levels.
* Senior management is dependent on this position in overseeing and
successful delivery of assigned projects.
* Project team members rely on this role to provide project related
functional management, direction and mentoring.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

* The person must demonstrate strong knowledge and experience with the
responsibilities outlined above.
* 5 years of progressively responsible project management experience
preferably utilizing a variety of application/system development
methodologies.
* Proven track record in managing large-scale matrixed projects or
concurrent mid-scale projects required
* 2 or more years of experience in managing vendor or outsourced
development teams is desirable
* PMP certification desirable but not required.
* Strong Vendor Management and Project Management skills are
desirable.
* Ability to translate business needs into technology development
requirements.
* Strong experience with project financial management and vendor
contract & service level management.
* Strong influencing, problem solving, consensus building, and
negotiation skills.
* Consistent delivery and responsiveness.
* Ability to build and maintain strong and trusted business partner
relationships

Education

A Bachelors degree with extensive coursework in Computer Science or an
equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable
knowledge and abilities can be acquired is necessary.
