Senior Enterprise Architect 

Job Description:

Role: 

The Senior Enterprise Architect is engaged across portfolios and works toward assisting in the translation of business objectives and requirements into an enterprise compliant IT system specification with a focus on the performance, robustness, and operational supportability patterns across the solutions. 
The Architect defines the Enterprise Architecture standards and works with the Solution Architecture / Domain Architect peers (Data, Application, and Infrastructure Architects) and strives to identify and develop synergies within their solution architecture domain and across the enterprise architecture process and standards. 
The Architect is responsible for facilitating the development of architectural policies and standards as well as technology architecture roadmaps with the other architectural disciplines (infrastructure / data / application / solutions). 

The Architect assures the end-to-end architectural view of the system for alignment with non-functional specification standards. Specifically, the Enterprise Architect works with the Solution Architect and project teams to evaluate proposed solutions for compliance with standards whose goals are enhancing stability, security, high availability, dependability, and recoverability of technology platforms. 

The individual is expected to participate in architectural review sessions in which the person will facilitate, document, and conform and encapsulate the functional specification architecture (i.e. fault intolerant specification) into a the non-functional architecture (i.e. fault tolerant specification)

Responsibilities:

Solution Review and Oversight Standards /Policy Governance
Leads / facilitates the process of multi discipline standards architectural assessment and standardizes policy creation to support the dependability design of focused solution architectures
Reviews specific solution architectures for compliance with standards, policies, and target enterprise architecture including 'End to End' assessment

Technology Portfolio Management
Planning, documenting, communicating life cycle state for enterprise technologies (Invest, Maintain, Divest) that enable stability, dependability and recoverability of IT and operations

Environment architecture monitoring
On-going monitoring, analysis & review of systems bottlenecks to identify architectural opportunities to improve end-to-end architectures

Facilitate the definition of the Strategic Architecture
The Enterprise Architect will consume business and architectural vision from the COO, CTO, CIO, and CDO levels to produce a target model, reference architecture, and transition planning in conformance with the dependability standards
Assessment of current state, target state, interim states and reference architecture road maps
Experience:

Requirements:

4 year college degree required (Technology / Engineering Related)
7 years related experience
15 years total experience
Skilled in in EA and SA domains and demonstrate subject matter expertise in the areas of performance, robustness, and operational supportability
Strong technical expertise and proven design skills with breadth of knowledge across architecture disciplines, specializing in dependability architecture and design non-functional specifications
Experience with collaborating with IT stakeholders to develop technical roadmaps containing tactical and strategic initiatives to reach target technical capabilities
Ability to conducts stakeholder and architecture capabilities reviews using industry standard notations and tool such as UML/IDEF on Rational System Architect/Sparx Systems Enterprise Architect
Skilled in Identifying and acting upon synergies and resolving dependency impacts across the architecture landscape
Proven record in designing solutions based on IT requirements that align with Reference Architecture policies and standards
Ability to Engage and communicate clearly with Architecture peers from other disciplines during implementation of Enterprise Architecture and Solution Design
Demonstrate skills of persuading stakeholders and syndicating IT architecture strategies within domain segments and across the enterprise. Strong ability to communicate across different domains, articulate a solution to all parties
Skilled in Fault Mode Effects Analysis, Fault Tree Sets, Hazard Analysis, Exception analysis techniques and trends, and Fault Intolerant versus Fault Tolerant specifications comparative analysis
Strong quantitative, presentation, and analytical skills with a high attention to details
Experience with process development, cross functional team facilitation, and designing financial systems
Leadership and mentorship skills such as demonstrated ability to earn trust from others, able to influence their teams in the right direction and still know when to compromise
Proven ITIL experience and/or certification as well as a delivering high performance processes supported by flexible and robust management metric systems
Infrastructure technology experience (metrics / process / initiative management)
Experience with Webservers, JEE Application servers (Tomcat, WAS), Messaging/ESB/SOA (Tibco AMX, JMX, Tibco EMS), Data technologies (MS SQL Server, Oracle RAC, Coherence), Storage (SAN, NAS, FC), Server Platform (IBM, HP), Networking (routers, switches, vpn, protocols) and related technologies
Knowledge in major EA and IT Architecture frameworks, such as Zachman, TOGAF, RM-ODP, Gartner Architecture, RUP, 4+1 views, DoDAF etc
A Plus - knowledge and familiarity with control systems engineering and applicability to IT architecture
