Position Description:
This position joins a team of five (5) IT professionals responsible for supporting the IT needs of the client both in the field sales force across the country and employees located in two Norwalk, CT offices. Hardware to be supported is primarily Dell laptops, iPads, Epson & HP printers, Blackberrys, iPhones, and peripherals. Primary responsibility is in telephone support to the sales force. Key areas include MS Windows 7, MS Office 2007, MSOffice 365/Outlook, network connectivity, hardware, and user authentication.
 
Responsibilities:
* Provide Tier 2 technical telephone support to client's remote field sales and sales office employees across the country on laptop, iPad, blackberry, iPhone, and network connectivity issues
* Troubleshoot and resolve issues with Windows 7 operating system, Microsoft Office applications
* Prepare documentation and support scripts for knowledge transfer
* Process all new-hire/change hardware and information for Field Sales Force
* Track hardware assets of client's Field Sales Force
* Ensure that each user is able to access all company resources through the corporate VPN utilizing any connection to the Internet (DSL/Cable, WiFi, Cellular Card (WWAN))
* Manage remote user environment through AD Management Console and SCCM
* Process new-hire requests for IT requirements
* Ensure equipment is delivered within an acceptable time period
* Identify and coordinate hardware repairs
 
Requirements:
* College Degree preferred
* 2 years' technical IT experience in a corporate environment is preferred
* Excellent customer support and analytical skills
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills
* Experience troubleshooting network issues
* Working knowledge of Windows 7 Professional, Office 2007 is required
* Experience supporting Apple Products including iMac & iPad is preferred
* Basic knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policy, SCCM
* Ability to perform in a challenging, fast-paced, technical environment
* Follow-up skills
 
This 5+ month position starts ASAP.

Job boards are the main focus for employers and job seekers. The most popular job boards are Monster and CareerBuilder. Most recently, LinkedIn has become a well renowned job board for both networking and job seeking. Currently, LinkedIn has over 64 million users who are seeking new connections and employment.
 
LinkedIn is a professional networking site that aids Recruiting on various levels. People are able to join groups with similar interests allowing others from all over to continuously network for future business needs or job opportunities. Facebook recently announced that they will be creating a job board for their users. "The board will aggregate the job postings of third-party providers, making them available for search by Facebook users." Facebook has over 800 million active users, and over 3.5 billion pieces of content (such as web links, news stories etc) shared each week on Facebook. (Digitalbuzz)
 
With Facebook holding the highest social media ratings, it's clear as to why they are looking to create a job board for their 800 million users. Statistics showed that in January, the average user spent over 405 minutes on Facebook. (Mediabistro) With so many people constantly on Facebook, the job board will keep people interested by creating this idea of a one stop shop for their social media needs.
 
Although Facebook's announcement poses a threat to LinkedIn it is uncertain how much of a threat. LinkedIn's main purpose is to allow users to present themselves professionally for potential career moves and has been successful at it for quite some time. Unlike Facebook which has always been geared towards the social aspect.
"There are some Fortune 500 companies who do utilize Facebook pages to recruit but the mixing of personal and professional business seems "dangerous" from a user's perspective, especially those in the under 35 set who put a lot more of their personal information out there for all (or many) to see." (Marketmontage) Facebook is hoping to create this job board for their users within the next few months. Facebook users should be more aware now of their profiles since employers will be attracted more to seeing what these candidates are all about.
 
Whether it's LinkedIn or Facebook that you are using to search for employment or making new connections, your presence on either site should represent your capabilities and professionalism. Setting up your profile to positively outline your experiences and qualifications is essential in gaining new connections and new job possibilities. Employers use Facebook more then we think to either recruit a candidate or to get a better idea of their personality and background. Cleaning up your social media is probably the smartest idea in order to sell yourself and ensure you're standing out as a qualified candidate, rather than a candidate that a company might regret hiring.
