Subject: GenY Networking Group - August 21 Meeting Reminder

To all the 'Friends of the GenY Networking Group' - Thank you again for your continued support!

Please pass this invite all to younger adults who are in job search or who are seeking a unique networking opportunity.

Regards,  joe f

**************************
The next GenY Networking Group session will be held Wednesday, August 21st, 7 PM, Library of the Chathams (see flyer attached).

As the summer winds down and the calendar year approaches the completion of its third quarter, a summary comment from the CareerBuilder 2013 U.S. Job Forecastcontinues to strike a chord –

"More than 60 percent of employers reported that they are in a better financial position than last year and more than 40 percent said their sales increased over the last six months. While this bodes well for job creation, employers are still assessing the implications of a weakened global market and a modest recovery at home. … We don't expect 2013 to bring any big surprises in regard to employment, rather it will continue on a path of stability and gradual growth barring any significant economic disruptions."

— Mark Ferguson, CEO of CareerBuilder

If you are a young adult, if you are a recent college graduate (within the past two years), if you have experienced an extended job search, if the job markets are frustrating you – what is your strategic approach to combating the implications of the above quote?  If you are 'stuck' in moving successfully through the job search process --> you are welcomed to attend this upcoming GenY Networkingmeeting.
Why come and network?  As posted on the Yale University Undergraduate Careersite –
Networking is considered the most effective way of finding a job – particularly in challenging economic times. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, 70% of all jobs are found through networking. Through networking you can uncover job opportunities that might not yet – or never - be posted on job-sites, or create an opportunity that did not previously exist.
So come out and join us - I am confident that you will enjoy this evening - so please plan to attend and spread the word.

This meeting's Agenda –

- Introductions - hone your 'elevator pitch'; master this basic element of job search, networking, interviewing
- Roundtable – Why is Networking so Important in the Current Job Market for Millennials

*** 2013 Calendar- Future meeting dates – Sep 4 & 18, Oct 2 & 16 ***

If you have attended this group in the past and found the evening to be both rewarding and informative please spread the word, and invite a friend.
Finally for all cc'd on this message - if you know a twenty-something (or early thirty-something) who could benefit from a forum dedicated to the specific dynamic of Generation Y please forward this email.  For more information see the group's Facebook - GenY Networking Group, or contact me.

Regards, joe f
