PUBLICATIONS EDITOR
This position is for a Publications Editor to the Fixed Income Rates Strategy and Economic Research groups. There isn't a specific job description for Editor, hence the PMO Bus.Analyst was selected per Contingent Workforce Management recommendation
JOB DESCRIPTION FOR PUBLICATIONS EDITOR:
Edit publications for internal and external distribution in publications produced by research groups covering Economics, Interest Rate Strategy and Foreign Exchange Strategy, and Credit Strategy. The editor edits, compiles, and publishes the daily US and Global Economics publications, and also other publications as needed.
Publication production is on a variety of schedules, with the daily, and the weekly publications generally published on Thursday and Friday, being the most important regular commitment. The groups produce daily, weekly, quarterly, and ad hoc pieces.
The objective of the editor is to aid clarity, readability and to avoid mistakes. Our research groups main communication channel with our clients is through our publications so that well written, accessible and stimulating publications are essential to get our message across and to create the right image for the firm. The editorial function is a vital part of this process.
The editor needs excellent English language skills, and knowledge of economics and financial markets. An enthusiastic interest in the subject matter will be a big help. Some of the contributors have English as their second language, so those pieces will sometimes need a more thorough reworking.
Tight deadlines apply to all publications and so good organizational skills are a prerequisite. Close attention to detail is essential. The editor also needs to have good interpersonal skills when working with authors and support staff.
As production of publications is becoming more web-based, experience and knowledge of publishing documents through the web would be an advantage. Publications are written with Microsoft Word, PDFd and compiled with Adobe Pro, and published on Client and the BNP Paribas client website. A familiarity with EcoWin and Excel charts, in terms of pasting into articles, is a plus.
The editor will support the New York and Latam research and strategy teams. Currently, there are two part time editors in London who edit for the European and global publications, and the US editor is sometimes asked to help when they are shorthanded.
