Senior Systems Engineer
My client, The Network Support Company (TNSC), in Danbury, CT is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer, who will be based in Danbury.The Network Support Company is a unique business IT support and maintenance company - helping small to mid-sized businesses maximize their technology efficiency since 1996.TNSC, with headquarters in Connecticut and regional offices in Florida and Pennsylvania, provides IT support services, network infrastructure design, and IT consulting services to businesses throughout New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and the eastern seaboard.
Background on the Position
The right person for this position will be someone whose technology knowledge/expertise (and breadth of technology exposure) is well matched with his/her client interfacing skills.You must be enthusiastic, hardworking, and able to manage a diverse workload and problem-solve a wide range of technical issues. You must be self-motivated to start projects and be comfortable in an independent environment - prior consulting experience is required. At the same time, you must have good communication skills and be a collaborative member of our team. You will be expected to take full personal responsibility for the quality of your work.
Our client organizations include: hotels/hospitality, law firms, credit unions, architects, accountants, and health care practitioners. They expect solid, well-thought-out technical recommendations that demonstrate a clear understanding of their business drivers and goals.
Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills are also required. You must have the ability to make solid technology recommendations based upon a demonstrated understanding of business value to C-level decision makers. To succeed in this role, it is necessary to be flexible, open-minded, diplomatic, and able to work comfortably and patiently with all levels of users.
Most importantly, you must be stronglyoriented toward customer service.
Requirements:

* Minimum of 15 years' experience installing, upgrading, and maintaining business networks.
* Experience installing and configuring CRM, Accounting, Clinical, or other business applications.
* Operating systems experience: Windows Server 2008/2003, Windows 7, VMware
* Extensive Microsoft Exchange, SQL Server, Terminal Server experience required.
* Extensive knowledge of managed switches and firewall configuration.
* Citrix, Kaseya, SharePoint, NetWare and Linux experience a plus.
* Must be able to quickly learn/troubleshoot new software "on the spot" as dictated by a client's environment.
* Provide pre-sales technical support to the sales staff by providing estimating, quoting and project management support.
* Establish and document best practices.
* Act as a mentor and leader to technical staff.
* Must have previous experience working with multiple clients on a consultative basis.
* Must have experience writing proposals with business justifications, as well as Scope of Work documents and project plans.
Position requires travel primarily in Fairfield County, Connecticut & Westchester County, New York. Overnight travel is rare.
Education/Certifications:

* Bachelor Degree in technology or Business related degree program
* Industry certifications (CNE, CCNP, MCITP, MCSE)
* MAC OS and/or UNIX a plus!
* Solid business and financial knowledge.

Required:
Accounting experience in Derivatives OR Insurance OR Investments OR Fixed Income . (If they don't have derivatives accounting the hiring manager would like to have accounting experience in either Insurance or some type of Investment or Fixed Income.)
 
 
RESPONSIBILITIES
Support accounting and reporting for all derivative transactions: SEC, GAAP, Statutory and Tax.
 - Prepare FASB 157 and 161 Footnote disclosures for 10Q's and 10K
 - Prepare Schedule DB's for Quarterly and Annual Statutory Financial Statements.
 - Provide support to Tax dept for tax related issues / tax returns Responsibilities related to both technical and operational aspects of derivatives.
 - Monitor hedge effectiveness, regression results and basis adjustments for qualified hedges.
 - Support compliance with new Dodd/Frank regulations.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
-BA/BS degree in accounting or finance, CPA certification and/or CFA designation.
- At least 1-3 years experience in accounting and financial reporting.
 
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
-Experience with SFAS No. 133 with respect to both technical and operations.
 -Statutory accounting experience desired.
-Derivative investment accounting experience desired.
-Computer proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Oracle or other General Ledger or Derivative accounting systems
