On Tuesday evening, May 13th, MIS Network Associates
(MNA), Association of Women in Computing (AWC), IT-Networking, the ETP Network,
TENG, The Breakfast Club of NJ (TBCNJ), Monmouth Networking, and Careers In
Transition (CIT) will host a combined dinner meeting for members, alumni,
friends, and guests at The Holiday Inn in Totowa, NJ. Mike Palestina will

discuss verbal and non-verbal communication in your day-to-day personal and
professional lives and in your campaign to get connected.

The schedule for the dinner meeting on May 13th will be:

The informal networking groups are so helpful in networking that
we will do the "speed dating" again on May 13thbefore we sit down for dinner and the general
introductions.  Briefly, these informal "dates" consist of up to 4 people
and last for 5 to 10 minutes.  At the end of the 10 minutes, the groups
break up and new ones are formed with different participants. Suggested
dialogues for your "speed dating" encounters will be provided at the
registration desk in case you are at a loss for what to say during these
conversations.
 
There will be an opportunity to circulate up to 40 copies of your
resume, personal bio, leads, or other appropriate material in a handout for
each participant from the dinner.
 
The cost will be $45 for everyone if forwarded by mail or other to
John Sampson by COB Monday, May 12th at 2 Blackfoot Cir, Wayne NJ 07470. 
Checks should be made out to John Sampson who can be reached by phone at
973-248-3251 or via email at jcsspike@yahoo.com.  Reservations can also be made by
contacting Lizanne Fiorentino at lizanne@ignitetheflame.com  but checks
must be sent directly to John. 
 
An initial list of attendees will be emailed to all the RSVPs,
members of MNA and AWC, the ETP Network, TENG, The Breakfast Club of NJ,
Monmouth Ntwkg, IT-Net, CIT and other interested parties the weekend of May
10/11 for initial review and correction.  The RSVP list will facilitate
networking at the May 13th event and can be used to communicate with attendees
in advance or after the dinner meeting. For those attendees who are working,
current work affiliation, email address, three previous companies you've worked
for/consulted at, professional job interest or position availability must be
included in your RSVP.
 
For those attendees who are in transition, three target companies
should be included in your RSVP as well as the type of position you seek.
 
A "final" numbered RSVP list of attendees will be available along
with the pre-published questions and an ID badge at the registration desk on
the 13th.  Your number on the final RSVP list
should be part of your introduction:  "I'm number x on the RSVP list …".
All attendees should have their sharp, crisp, 15 second elevator speech at the
ready.  Too many "ahs, dees and doeses" will be cut off unceremoniously.
Remember, you and your introduction will be between the rest of the attendees
and dinner!
 
A final RSVP list of the actual attendees will be emailed to
everyone who participated by
May 20th.
 
We will accept a LIMITED number of walk-ins on the 13th. 
Anyone who attends on the 13thand whose check has not
been received by COB on the 12th will be charged $60 WITHOUT EXCEPTION.
There will be NO refunds and no shows WILL be billed.
 
Again, bring 40 copies of your bio/resume, leads, or materials you
wish to be included in the handout the evening of May 13th.

Director of IT, Global Shared Infrastructure Technologies (GST)
 
This position is responsible for the design and build of infrastructure technologies, services and solutions according to defined technology standards in the GST discipline. Responsible for all aspects of Hosting infrastructure engineering on a global basis. Manage six global engineering teams: Unix/Linux, Middleware, Network/Security, Telecom, Cloud Services and Data Services, with the objective to increase the efficiency and consistency of the infrastructure Business Hosting engineering processes. The Director and their organization will ensure that the design and implementation of roadmap hosting technologies evolve into supportable and effective services that meet the defined business requirements. Provide thought leadership into the technology planning process and, in collaboration with Architecture, vetting new hosting technologies against emerging business and technological needs. As a member of the Global IT&O leadership team, the role will
provide key input into the Global Shared Technology strategic planning process, organization direction and budget management.
 
Primary Duties:
 
● Provides strategic and operational leadership for the Global Shared Technology organization, including the development of the overall operating model, technology future state, technology road maps and resource plans to ensure consistent delivery of new hosting technologies into Operations
● Implement new hosting technologies according to the defined technology roadmaps
● Responsible for the design and build of hosting platforms for new business IT applications
● Responsible for the piloting of new hosting technologies, including the development of final design parameters and configurations, resulting in virtual data center containers available for deployment
● Responsible for the hosting and R&D functions of the Global Innovations team, supporting rapid POC testing of emerging technologies, products and services.
● Provides Level 3 Nth Tier operational support for deployed services and technologies
● Provides on-going governance of capacity management for the IT Infrastructure globally, ensuring continued and optimized alignment of the infrastructure services with the evolving needs of the business
● Manage and constantly improve the IT infrastructure management standards & procedures ensuring governance and adherence
● Manage relationships with strategic global suppliers of IT products and services. Perform contract management, SLA management and price negotiations. Establish strategic partnership with external vendors to reduce the cost of development and deliver increased value.
● Engages proactively with the business unit stakeholders, Engineering, DevOps and Product Development teams to understand project priorities and to gain feedback regarding project delivery effectiveness.
● Responsible for the preparation and effective management of annual operating budgets
● Continually reviews operational performance to determine opportunities for project delivery improvement through the identification and adoption of industry best practices and innovations
● Recruits, trains and develops a superior staff; trains staff in the use of industry best practices, established engineering methodologies and documented procedures
● Key member of the Global IT&O leadership team, providing input into the strategic direction of the Global Shared Technology.
 
 
Qualifications:
 
● Bachelor's degree in a business, engineering or computer-related discipline
● 12 years of Information Technology work experience
● 8 years of Information Technology team leadership experience, including the direct leadership of infrastructure engineering and support teams
● 3+ years of experience leading large scale Enterprise Cloud Infrastructure (Public, Private & Hybrid) (VMware, AWS and Rackspace) initiatives
● Proven track record of designing and building infrastructure hosting solutions in accordance with established directions and standards
● Significant experience in the development of organization strategies and models for complex enterprise infrastructure environments
● Experience in working with, and leading, global teams and projects
● Proven relationship development skills
● Skilled at talent management including assessment, deployment, development, reward, and retention
● Excellent technical and nontechnical communication skills, both written and formal presentation with proven applicability across all levels both inside and outside the company

Project Manager for Data Center Migration
Contract Position at Midtown Manhattan Financial Services Firm
 
A financial services firm in Midtown, Manhattan is seeking a Project Manager to ensure the smooth transition of data center migration. This role will work with the implementation team by developing project plans with milestones, ensure delivery of projects to the business partners, meeting approved scope / cost / schedule / quality, and perform risk identification and mitigation activities, escalating unresolved issues where appropriate. This role requires weekly travel.
 
Responsibilities:
- Plan, coordinate and supervise complex assignments. 
- Develop, plan, analyze, evaluate and assign priorities to deliverables and requirements. 
- Develop project plans with milestones. 
- Coordinate all meeting and interface with business units, staff and service providers. 
- The successful candidate will be responsible for the oversight and execution of projects involving significant scope and complexity. 
 
Key accountabilities are:
- Direct or manages projects involving significant scope and complexity. 
- Ensures delivery of projects to the business partner, meeting the approved scope/cost/schedule/quality for the project. 
- Perform a governing role for, ensuring that the proposal, execution, control, deployment, training and hand off, warranty support, and closure meet promised schedules.
- Performs risk identification and mitigation activities, escalating unresolved issues where appropriate to secure their timely decisions/support.
- Manages the acquisition and deployment of resources, including budget, by working with the Project Managers to secure the resources required for the project.
- Ensures client satisfaction with the project process and project team by effective and timely communication including status reporting, continual risk/issue assessment/management and escalation, and resolution of issues as they arise.
- The successful candidate will be required to work with and influence senior level leaders and partner with other IT Managers. 
- Work with business and technology teams to identify, schedule and prioritize project activities. 
- Create detailed project plans and other PMLC documentation as required.
- Provide detailed project planning, execution, tracking, reporting, and risk management.
- Proactively communicate resourcing requirements, highlighting issues, and recommending alternate courses of action. 
- Collaborate with Business and external vendors. 
- Develops an understanding of the technical/business aspects of the project in order to effectively manage the project and resources.
 
Requirements:
- Past experience with data center migrations
- Experience with infrastructure and application teams
- Financial industry experience 
- Rock solid communication skills
- PMP Certification
- Bachelor's degree
 
Nice to have:
- Buy side asset management experience
- Wealth or capital market experience
