Position Summary:
As member of a strong, collaborative application development team, this
individual will design, develop, and support systems for the Fund
Administration group within Investment Administration, which is responsible
for Prime Brokerage Service Operations, Transfer Agent and Fund Accounting
processing for both onshore and offshore funds.
In this role, the individual will participate in all development activities
to successfully deploy new systems and enhancements, and work with a diverse
set of cross-functional teams to design, develop and implement solutions to
meet business requirements. The Senior Software Engineer will be a senior
resource and mentor junior team members in their development activities. The
candidate should be a self-starter with the ability to multi-task and work
on a variety of assignments in a fast-paced environment, interacting with
people at all levels in the organization.
Responsibilities:
* Work with business team, project managers, and systems analysts
to review business requirements, functional specifications, use-cases, and
test plans.
* Participate in architecture, design, development, and
implementation of new software components and applications based on
functional specifications.
* Work with other software engineers to design and implement
application features, including user interfaces, and business functionality
enhancements.
* Author technical design and support documentation.
Required Skills and Competencies:
* 7+ years of demonstrated database development and architecture
experience
* 7+ years demonstrated experience developing web applications and
services using SPRING, JDBC, JMS, JSP, and JavaScript.
* Experience with PERL, JSON, XML, UNIX/Linux, and AngularJS is
helpful.
* Ability to work effectively in a multi-location team environment
* Ability to solve problems in a logical, methodical, and time
efficient manner
* Experience in data management a plus
* Excellent organizational, written and verbal communication skills
Keys to this Role
1. We are seeking a core Java developer with 7 plus years of experience.
2. We are also seeking SQL coding skills to be able to work with the data.
SQL or PL/SQL is fine. We use Oracle on the back end.
3. Java technologies desired include JDBC, JMS, Spring, Hibernate. The
candidate does not need to possess all of these technologies. They
just need to be a solid Java/SQL developer and we can train them in the
other areas.
4. The development work tends to be more on the back end, but there is also
some front end development as well.
5. Excellent Communication skills are required
6. Financial services are preferred, but we are open to any industry
