Position: Accounting ManagerReports to: Controller Company Information:The Company is a private real estate firm specializing in investment, development, and operations primarily in the New York metropolitan area. Department Information:The accounting department handles the accounting for real estate deals during the development and construction phase as well as the corporate operations. The company is in a period of growth in number, size and complexity of its projects and is therefore seeking to upgrade department capabilities through the addition of staff and development of infrastructure and process refinement.The department's responsibilities are varied and growing, but at a minimum will include:· Construction loan and capital call requisitions· Job cost reporting and monitoring of project budgets· Maintenance of multiple general ledgers on both a GAAP and tax basis, including preparation of quarterly and year-end work papers and financial statements· Reading, interpreting, summarizing, maintaining files for, and monitoring vendor contracts · Reading and interpreting deal documents and determining proper accounting treatment· Extensive interface with development team, lending institutions, investors and vendors to support development projects· Cash management, accounts payable and other standard accounting operations functions· Maintaining vendor commitment system· Cash flow analysis· Special projects as neededThe Project Accounting Manager's job will be to prepare and perform the above for the company's development projects.Qualifications:· BA in Accounting· 4 – 6 years of experience, with minimum two years in public accounting and 2 years in real estate development or construction accounting· Excellent Excel skills· Excellent written and oral communication skills· Sensitivity to deadlines and urgent situations· Ability to work in fluid environment· Ability to work extra hours when necessary· Ability to work as part of a team and be service-oriented· Must have experience with job costing· Experience reading and abstracting legal documents· Knowledge of job costing software, Timberline preferred· Some knowledge of real estate applicable GAAP pronouncements· Some knowledge of real estate and partnership taxationResume and salary requirements should be emailed to: rachelorlanski@gmail.com
