The purpose of this EDRS project is to move from a paper based registration process to an Electronic one to improve efficiency, security and timeliness of death registration in New York State. EDRS will be the primary source for all public health surveillance and quality mortality Data, to support data analysis and reports to a public health community that includes State agencies And Federal consumers. There is a compelling need to quickly implement and deploy the EDRS Solution to large statewide stakeholder community including funeral directors (3,000), physicians (90,000), medical examiners (60+), and local city, town and county registrars (1,500). EDRS is an existing software solution used by other state jurisdictions (including New York City) That will be configured to support New York State specific laws and workflows. New York State Is targeting a phase 1 go live in January 2015 that will involve NYS staff inputting of 20 15 death Certificate data directly into EDRS. Pilot programs where stakeholders create and file death Certificates using EDRS are scheduled to begin in the second quarter of 2015. Full statewide Rollout will begin in mid - 2015 and continue until all stakeholders are able to file death certificates Using EDRS.
