Position Summary:
The Hedge Management Systems team is looking for a Lead Software Engineer to
help develop and advance the Hedge Fund and Strategic Risk toolsets. In
addition to working in a dynamic team that is known for its attention to
detail and excellent delivery record, this role will require close
interactions with Engineering teams from other business units, Business
Analysts, Enterprise Architects and Infrastructure teams across the IT
department.
This position requires proficiency and experience in software development
using Java-based technologies. While prior business knowledge is not
mandatory any experience in the financial industry will be a plus. Progress
towards achieving the CFA Charter will also be a plus.
Responsibilities:
* Work closely with Hedge and Risk Strategy Engineering and
Business Analyst teams to understand the business needs and define new - or
advance existing - applications.
* Partner with application and data architects in the design and
review of Hedge and Risk Strategy technology solutions
* Lead a team of developers in the building and delivery of
business solutions
Required Skills and Competencies:
* A solid software engineering background, including at least ten
years of hands-on development experience in a commercial environment
* At least five years of experience managing software development
teams
* The ability to communicate effectively with business teams
* The ability and willingness to work effectively in a
business-critical production environment
* Excellent written and verbal communications skills
* Willingness to work in an energetic, fast-paced, and
team-oriented environment
* The ability to work independently
* The ability to manage conflicting priorities effectively
* Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related discipline
* Financial services experience is preferred, but not required
Keys to this Position:
1) We are seeking a lead Java developer with 10 plus years of experience.
2) This role is 50% coding and 50% leadership (leading a team of 3 to 5
consultants).
3) We are seeking a strong hands-on lead Java developer who can lead in
analysis, design and development of complex applications. The technical
stack includes Java/J2EE, Spring, Tom Cat (application server), Web
Services, Oracle and exposure to multi-threading and JMS.
4) We are also seeking SQL coding skills to be able to work with the
data. Solid experience with SQL or PL/SQL is required.
5) Financial services experience is preferred, but not required
6) Strong communication skills as this person will be leading a very
important track called Next Generation Performance and Attribution System.
