The Office of Professional Services (OPS) is responsible for all
administrative and support services, including Human Resources,

Job Summary:
New York State Homes Community and Renewal (NYSHCR) is seeking an
experienced Java Developer to play a key role in the development and support
of the Agency's web-based mortgage application as well as other projects as
needed. The Java Developer must have experience in all phases of the
Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and is responsible for program
design, coding, testing, debugging and documentation. He/she will report
into the Lead Java Developer and the Applications Development Manager. The
Java Developer must be able to communicate well and work independently as
well as in a team environment.

Responsibilities Include (but not limited to):
* Provide full life cycle development with JAVA and web-based
technologies
* Understand coding standards and implement them within code being
developed
* Troubleshoot problems and provide solutions
* Communicate with the users to determine problems or design
requirements
* Document changes and follow the Systems Development Life Cycle
process independently
* Willing to learn and adopt new technologies in short period of time

Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree, Mater's or relevant technical degree preferred
* 6 years of relevant experience in a J2EE development role
* Knowledge of JAVA APIs and J2EE components
* Solid UI skills (HTML, CSS, JavaScript)
* Knowledge of Tomcat or similar servlet containers and Apache web
server
* Ability to work in a Linux environment, basic systems administration
skills
* Knowledge of Hibernate, Struts 1 and Spring frameworks
* Experience with MS SQL Server
* Experience with writing REST and SOAP web services, preferably with
CXF (both client and server).
* Knowledge of XML technologies (java serialization frameworks,
authoring)
* Knowledge of SVN, JProfiler, Hudson, Ant
* Knowledge of Data structures, Algorithms, OOP essentials
* Experience with conforming to requirements, design, coding, testing,
debugging and documentation
* Knowledge in finance and mortgages is a plus
* Solid oral and written communication skills
* Ability to adapt quickly and work well under pressure
* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/ Computer Engineering/
Information Systems/Information Technology or related Field
