Role Title : Mainframe Development / COBOL Programmer / Mnging Cons
Duration : 5+ Month Contract
Location : Tarrytown, NY
Project Description:This position is for an intermediate developer to work on fairly complex assignments and perform the full range of development activities in support of the mainframe system within the Violation Processing product. The application is support multiple cities in the management of parking violations. The incumbent will be expected to multi-task, working under tight deadlines and with only general supervision. Duties of the position include:
- Work with end-users to elicit requirements and document requirements.
- Working from requirements, design, develop and test required software programs.
- Follow configuration management procedures for maintaining all changes to the software.
- Prepare necessary documentation including procedural, program and user documentation.
- Deploy applications into a production environment.
- Monitor applications in production to ensure correct operation.
- Work with end-users to train and ensure successful implementation.
- Resolution of any reported defects.
- Able to investigate and apply new technologies.
Systems developed support production operations that operate 24x7. Ability to accommodate after hours and on-call support is required. This position is for an intermediate developer to work on fairly complex assignments and perform
Skills:• 6+ years of experience using CICS with COBOL II or COBOL for MVS in an online and batch mainframe environment.
• 4+ years experience with mainframe batch procedures and JCL development.
• 4+ years experience with mainframe databases such as ADABAS, DB2 or VSAM . ADABAS experience is a definite plus
• Experience with one of the commercially available debugging tools such as INTERTEST or XPEDITOR.
• Ability to effectively troubleshoot assigned issues for resolution.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
