Job Title: Windows Server Consultant : Remediation

Location: RARITAN, NJ
Duration: 4 months

Job Description:
Description:
12000+ Windows systems will have all accounts remediated and standardized through a new portal based self serve approval workflow. Existing accounts be cleaned up and removed according to the Windows Security Model standard. Every system and ID will be identified and communicated to appropriately to re-apply for access through the new self serve workflow. These communications will occur per environment 2 weeks prior to migration and will require reapplication for access to targeted systems. In depth knowledge of local and global groups/accounts, service accounts, local administrators, power users, printer operators, and backup operators is a prerequisite.

• Remediation/standardized of accounts for approximately 8,000 Windows Servers
• Planning the migration of each server per planned schedule including:
o Identification of accounts, their owners & remediation requirements so that by the end of Q1 2012:
? All accounts have an owner, identified by an active WWID
? All accounts with EP are categorized as one of the following
1. Remediation Complete (revoked or IDMS-managed EP)
2. Remediation In Progress (owner is working to remediate their account and/or its EP)
3. Approved Exception for Incomplete Remediation
o Proactive identification of known exception cases
o Notification of all account owners at least 2 weeks prior to migration
? Owners use self-service portal to reapply for privileges that are still needed
• Support of account owners if/when issues arise
• Locking down each server per planned schedule including
o As approved, adding any accounts that are to remain as-is to exception list
o Enabling the enforcement of new access management model
o Ensuring all old privileges, that are not on the exception list, have been removed
• Supporting Service Account owners with their work of:
o Testing that the new access management model works for their application
o Removing legacy access for service accounts
o Disabling/removing any local service accounts no longer needed
o Proving any case for exception from the process
• Troubleshooting per server remediation problems
o Quickly understand the nature and business impact of the issue
o React quickly to understand if any system outage is caused by remediation
o React quickly to restore the system from outage caused by remediation
• Ensuring project progress tracking is always current by timely updates to provided tracking tools
• In-scope tasks may change, as process improves or IAM Program requires, and will be reviewed and agreed as needed.

Out of Scope:
• Server accounts that have no Elevated Privileges are exempt from this process
o Elevated Privileges are defined as server administrators, power users, printer operators and backup operators
• Default Administrator Accounts are exempt from the process.

Additional Comments:
• Engineers require in depth knowledge of local and global groups/accounts, service accounts, local administrators, power users, printer operators, and backup operators.
• Engineers require good Windows troubleshooting skills in relation to account and access management, ability to follow procedures, to communicate well with users who identify issues and to solve their problems (which may not all be covered by procedure).
