Project Description:
Our Direct Client is looking for a Data Protection and Storage Operator. This position will be used to handle several different operational functions within the Storage Team. Primarily they will be responsible for day to day client side requests of the TSM backup system. This includes data restores, agent configuration, and troubleshooting. In addition they will handle remediation and escalation 1st level support cases submitted via phone, email, and ticketing system. Other responsibilities will include intermediate level tasks on both Netapp and EMC hardware - quota adjustments, lun lookups, etc. Candidate must be self motivated and willing to take on additional responsibility if required. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Perform data restores using Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM) 2. Configure and troubleshoot client agent for TSM - Unix, Windows, Database 3. User and share quota administration for Netapp 4. Monitor storage alerts - escalate and/or address 5. 1st level phone, email, and ticketing system support 6. Basic SYMCLI lookups and verifications 7. Data gathering and reporting 8. Work with vendors to coordinate RMA's on failed components - hard drives, controllers, etc. QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. 1. 2-3+ years of storage operational experience. 2. Must possess a strong understanding of how enterprise storage interacts with a variety of Operating Systems and databases. 3. Experience with Tivoli Storage Manager 4. Knowledge of EMC and Netapp systems 5. Proficient understanding of UNIX as it relates to backup/storage technology 7. Proficient understanding of Windows as it relates to backup/storage technology 8. Experience with Unix shell scripting (sh, perl, python, etc.) 9. Knowledge of Backup solutions such as EDM, Veritas Netbackup, Legato Networker 10. Excellent communication and customer service skills 11. Knowledge of EMC Solutions Enabler, Navi/Unisphere 12. Must be able to Document clearly and accurately.
