Job Description
We are seeking a Director of Materials Management to coordinate the Materials Management System throughout the hospital with regards to procurement, processing, and distribution of materials and services. As the Director of Materials Management at Bayonne Medical Center, you will report to Chief Financial Officer and interface with all departments in the hospital with regards to materials. As a Director of Materials Management provide supply utilization budgets and reports,  and negotiate supply contracts, soliciting proposals and utilizing purchase groups.
 
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
* Developing  policies & procedures as it relates to Materials Management,
* Maintaining cost efficient supply levels throughout the hospital using PAR level replenishment system.
* Performing staff evaluations, staff development, process improvement & ongoing departmental development.
* Serving as assistant chairperson of the Hospital's Product Evaluation Committee.
* Coordinating of supply procurement in emergency situations and maintains sources of emergency supply items from other healthcare facilities and vendors.
 
* Ensuring that the Materials Management Department follows established safe practices for receiving hazardous substances.
 
* Controlling department staffing to meet budget and respond to volume changes
 
Requirements:
* B.S. or B.A. in Business Administration or related field preferred.  Hospital PurchasingManagement experience may substitute for education.
* 3to 5 years experience in Materials Management required. Hospital experience           preferred.
* Knowledge of hospital medical/surgical supplies and equipment required.  Knowledge of computerized Materials Management systems desired.
*  Ability to manage projects/task groups effectively required.
