> Monday, June 29th from 10:00 am - 12:00 noon: Northern NJ Professionals in Transition will host Terrence Seamon, a Career Coach and Author, who will give a presentation titled: Heed Your Calling, Discover your Purpose and your Passion. Have you ever thought about what are you called to do with your skills and gifts? Mark Twain once said: The two most important days in your life are the day you were born and the day you find out why. This is your true purpose. There is some work that each of us was born to do. It was planted in us before we were born. It is our calling, our reason for being here. Our mission in life is to find it and pursue it. Terry will guide you through a series of exercises that will lead you in the direction of greater clarity around your calling, your purpose, and the work you were meant to do. With this insight, you will be able to design your own personally branded value proposition. Do not miss an evening where you can expand your network, make new friends, share knowledge with your peers, and hear highly relevant and beneficial insights and perspectives from experts in the marketplace. A schedule of upcoming meeting dates is available at: www.bit.ly/NNJ_PIT1. The group generally meets on alternate Mondays, except holidays. > Monday, June 29th from 12:00 noon - 1:30 pm: The New York Science, Industry and Business Library will host Dr. Bruce Weinstein, author of the new book The Good Ones: Ten Crucial Qualities of High-Character Employees, who will give a presentation titled: How to Absolutely, Positively Ace Your Job Interview. Bruce explains how job seekers can ace their interviews by talking about something few of their competitors will: their own character. Dr. Bruce Weinstein says: 1) Bernie Madoff had an outstanding track record of making money for his clients, but that's because he was running the largest Ponzi scheme in U.S. history. It does not matter how skilled or knowledgeable you are if you are also a crook, 2) Companies do not ask about character when they hire, because they assume job candidates are decent. This is where smart job applicants can rise to the top: by volunteering to discuss this crucial subject, 3) The Good Ones are employees who are consistently honest, courageous, fair, grateful, humble, loyal, and patient. This benefits their organizations in ways nothing else can match. 4) Questionable character is costly. For example, the typical organization loses 5) percent of revenues each year to fraud and the median loss is almost $150,000, and 6) I will reveal strategies and techniques that job applicants can use to get the jobs they want. The meeting is at the New York Science, Industry and Business Library, 188 Madison Avenue @ 34th Street, New York, NY 10016.

> Wednesday, July 1st from 7:00 - 9:00 pm: Jewish Family Service of Somerset, Hunterdon and Warren Counties will host John Hadley, a Career Search Counselor, who will give a presentation titled: How to Use Storytelling to Get Hired. Do you have concise, engaging results-oriented stories to back up every point you want to make during the interview? John will demonstrate how to tell your HERO story in a manner that's interesting, that flows and shows the progression in your career, and that steers the interviewer to ask follow up questions that will advance your candidacy. John will also share his To Care template for telling accomplishment stories that prove you will deliver, while engaging the interviewer.
