Our client, a major retailer in the Parsippany, NJ area, seeks an Information Technology Executive Director.
 
The Information Systems Executive Director has a direct reporting line to the CEO with an indirect reporting line for IS professional matters to the Regional IS Relations Manager Americas. 
 
The IS ED provides the leadership, direction and management of all phases of the company's Information Systems strategic and technical planning, execution of business-specific applications, technology project governance, organizational management and development, and financial budgeting and control, and has an overall responsibility for information management and information technology.
 
The ED defines the strategy for implementation of business-critical information systems, technical infrastructure and service delivery, ensuring compliance with Group IS Policies and Standards. The role holder will manage a team of IS professionals, who deliver and support business applications and the technical infrastructure.
 
Principal Strategic accountabilities:
 
·         Strategic Planning - Participate in the company's strategic planning process and share in the development of the company's vision, goals and initiatives.
·         Spearhead the development of innovative IS solutions for the organization's marketing initiatives. This includes driving full life-cycle projects, from conceptualization to implementation, application and infrastructure maintenance.
·         Ensure the IS strategic plans and objectives are responsive to the needs of the company's growth and vision. .Ensure compliance with Group standards and policies. This includes documenting and communicating procedures for all relevant systems and collaborating with internal/external auditors to identify and deal with elements of non-compliance.
·         Continuous Research & Development of emerging IS technologies and determine its application within the business.
·         Continuous improvement of Quality, Customer-focus and Customer Relationships.
·         Identify opportunities for IS improvements and contribute to business process improvements.
·         Evaluate overall information technology systems and functions, and advise senior management on recommended system conversions, integrations and enhancements.
·         Ensure successful integration of technical infrastructure in the region with the parent Company technical infrastructure.
·         Establish an agreed program of work with the business management, including the required governance framework to monitor progress and deal with issues.
·         Advise the regional management about IS budgets, plans, issues and opportunities.
·         Define clear IS Service Level Agreements (SLAs) with the business management for all retail sites.
·         Produce investment plans and apply effective cost control on IS projects.
·         Develop and effectively communicate the IS strategic vision, plans and progress to the Executive Team and appropriate team members
 
TACTICAL & OPERATIONAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
·         Ensure maximum performance and availability of all information systems.
·         Experience with AS400 and RPG platform.
·         Ensure data security and contingency, minimizing the risk to the business, including effective disaster recovery plans, maintenance contracts being in place and technical operational procedures being well documented.
·         Contract management of IS solution providers, including suppliers of software, hardware, services and data services. This includes the optimization of IS procurement, in line with Group IS Global Procurement standards and best practices.
·         Ensure that helpdesk support and local application support are appropriately resourced and operated in accordance with agreed Service Level Agreements.
·         Manage the logistical operation of IS equipment for all retail sites.
·         Define standards and procedures around Information Management, Project Delivery, Investment Planning and Technical Infrastructure. Changes to these standards should be coordinated with Group IS.
·         Plan, deliver and support business applications. This will include implementation of Global Core Group Solutions and providing recommendations to Group IS and regional Management about local solutions, meeting specific local requirements.
 
MANAGEMENT ACCOUNTABILITIES
·         Manage in conjunction with other leaders, the project approval and selection process.
·         Ensuring that all technology initiatives have clear business goals and measurable success metrics. Ensure that the IT department is resourced in a way which is consistent with its workload, budget and authorized staffing.
·         Manage and develop IS staff, providing a good level of motivation and encouragement to enable their roles to grow.
·         Prepare and manage budgets, control IS costs and periodically report financial performance against set targets.
·         Monitor and report on the performance of the IS initiatives including actual vs. expected results, budgets and project duration.
 
Education/Background:
 
·         Graduate Degree in Information Technology, Business Management, Business Economics or equivalent from a reputable university in the USA or abroad.
·         At least 10 years of progressive experience in a sophisticated international IS environment, dealing with information management, technical infrastructure, service delivery and business-critical software applications.
·         At least 5 years experience in a similar role within a commercial business (retail business a strong plus) environment.
·         Experience and/or knowledge of AS 400 platform.
·         Experienced in the selection and implementation of software, hardware and IS services.Understand emerging technologies and market trends in the IS discipline and be able to apply these in the Retail industry. Strategic understanding of the industry and associated issues.
·         Excellent (written and verbal) communication, documentation and presentation skills.
·         Ability to communicate technical concepts and terminology in a clear and concise manner and in a way that can be understood by non-technical staff at all levels of the organization.
·         Service-minded attitude with the ability to build strong interpersonal relationships.
·         Flexible personality, someone who is challenged not scared by a continuously changing business environment and changing technological infrastructure.
·         Evidence of strong negotiation and persuasion skills enabling effective influencing of outcomes.
·         Ability to plan, organize and prioritize.
·         Fluent in English language.

Internal:    Management, Regional IS Director, corporate office employees, and all retail sites
IS colleagues in Region Americas, Group IS colleagues / Group IS CoEs, IS Managers in other parent company locations, Group IS Procurement Manager; Global IS Relations Manager.
External:    Suppliers, implementation consultants, auditors, IS Managers of business partners.

Range between 150 and 200 end users.
 
Salary:  $180,000 - $200,000 plus bonus
