This Week's Networking Events

Monday, June 11th from 7:00 – 8:30 pm. Kinnelon Library will host Neil
Cooper, a Career Coach, who will give a presentation titled: "How to Take
Advantage of the Encouraging Economic Outlook." Neil will discuss
developing certainty and confidence in the job search; structuring effective
strategies to conduct the search; and developing daily activities to
implement the search. Neil will teach you how to transform your job search
into an organized, effective, and accelerated process and land a job now!

Tuesday, June 12th from 9:30 – 11:30 am: The Hamilton Public Library will
host Katie DeVito, Founder of 'NJ Unemployed, who will give a presentation
titled: "Confessions and Lessons Learned From the Founder of NJ Unemployed:
How To Use Social Networking Most Effectively." Katie's story is not only
fascinating, but will reenergize and provide guidance. In addition, she will
discuss some of the interesting techniques she has developed using social
media to help individuals find employment, brand themselves and their

Tuesday, June 12th from 10:00 am – 12:00 noon: The Westport Public Library's
Business Librarian, Sylvia A. Schulman, will give a presentation titled:
"Energize Your Job Search." Gain an advantage by using valuable online
tools such as Reference USA, LexisNexis and Business & Company Resource
Center. Ms. Sylvia A. Schulman, will show you how to identify your key
companies, spot industry trends, and get in-depth background information for
greater success in networking and interviewing. The meeting is at the

Tuesday, June 12th from 7:30 - 9:00 pm: The Career Forum will host Lloyd
Feinstein, a Career Coach, who will give a presentation titled: "Confidence
and the ABC'S of Salary Negotiations." The meeting is at the Somerset Hills
YMCA, 140 Mt. Airy Rd, Basking Ridge, NJ 07920.

Tuesday, June 12th from 6:30 – 8:00 pm. The Piscataway Public Library will
host Alex Freund, a Career Coach, who will give a presentation titled: "Why
Can't I Get That Job?" This presentation deals with various details
focusing on the interview, for example, the importance of the fit factor.
The audience will learn about: 1) What exactly are recruiters looking for in
résumés, 2) What about the issue of discrimination, 3) What are companies'
unwritten little secrets about hiring, 3) What are the various interview
types, 4) What other tricks and traps do job seekers encounter. The meeting
will be held will be held at the Piscataway Public Library NJ, 20 Murray Ave
Piscataway Township, NJ 08854.

Wednesday, June 13th from 6:30 – 8:30 pm. The NJ Strategic Executives
Networking Group (NJSENG) will host Alex Freund, a Career Coach, who will
give a presentation titled: "Why Can't I Get That Job?" This presentation
deals with various details focusing on the interview, for example, the
importance of the fit factor. The audience will learn about: 1) What

Thursday, June 14th from 7:00 - 9:00 pm: NNJ ASTD will host David Volkman,
Managing Director at RLP Wealth Advisors, who will give a presentation
titled: "Effective Networking - The Handbook." David will discuss how to
present the correct attitude, create strategic partnerships, and obtain
those precious referrals. You will learn about behavioral networking, plus
the strategies, tactics and tools you will need to perfect in order to

Thursday, June 14th from 7:00 – 9:00 pm: Jewish Family Service of Central
NJ will host Alex Freund, a Career Coach, who will give a presentation
titled: "Networking Leading to Interviews." Sixty to eighty percent of
people get their job via networking. Yet, for some networking is very
challenging. Others do it, somewhat reluctantly and not very effectively.
The audience will learn about: 1) How to improve one's networking skills, 2)
What conditions should one create that lend themselves to bonding and
sharing, 3) How to communicate in order to get referrals, 4) How to use a
simple script which one can start using immediately, and 5) Five easy steps
to follow in order to get high-level contacts. The meeting is at the Jewish

Saturday, June 16th from 8:15 - 10:30 am: The Saint Gregory the Great
Networking Group (SGGNG) will host Katie DeVito, who will give a
presentation titled: "Social Media for Job Seekers." Katie will discuss
some of the interesting techniques she developed using social media to help
individuals find employment and brand themselves. The meeting is at Saint

Saturday, June 16th from 8:30 - 11:00 am: Careers in Transition (CIT)
meeting. Individuals give their 15 second elevator speech about themselves
-- who you are, what you are looking for, target companies (3-4), how the
group can help you, and how you can help the group. This is followed by a
short period for networking with people you would like to introduce yourself
to and exchange business cards. The group then divides into smaller teams
for: 1) Resume Assistance, (Please bring 15 copies of your resume if you
want it reviewed.) or 2) Support in Overcoming Job Search Obstacles. This
includes: A) Small group advice for individuals who have hit the wall and
need help to reinvigorate their job search, or B) Large group discussion on
various job search related topics. The meeting is in the Winston School Gym
at Christ Church, 30 East Lane, Short Hills, NJ 07078.
