To: AITP Members and Friends of the Garden State Chapter

The bright boys in the back room really outdid themselves this time. They were able to secure a well-regarded Microsoft solutions manager to provide us with details on the new Windows 8 operating system ahead of its general availability slated for October 26th. The presentation will be held at Microsoft's office in Iselin on Tuesday, October 9th. This is one meeting you should not miss if you have any technological bent and/or have an interest in Microsoft's offerings.  I also encourage you to bring a friend or colleague to the meeting, especially since the topic should be appealing to many of them.

Again, I kindly ask that you let me know if you will be attending. I look forward to seeing you there.

Thanks,

THE SPEAKER
=========
Sam Ibrahim has 26 years of IT experience working for some of the largest IT companies in addition to Microsoft (Compaq, IBM, Dell and EMC.) The last six years he has been with Microsoft as an Account Technologist Strategist and currently a Client Solutions Specialist. He has also worked in the partner channel in professional services and cloud services.  Sam is a graduate of Pace University with a degree in MIS.

PRESIDENT'S COMMENTS
================
It's known that Microsoft made many significant changes and enhancements for their Windows 8 operating system for PCs, desktops and tablets. For example, app development is facilitated via a new design language and changes to the graphical user interface and platform. Many security features have also been added to Win 8. This meeting provides an opportunity to stay ahead of the curve by learning what's new with Microsoft's software and development approach.

I recently sent out a notice about the reduced membership fees for unemployed applicants. The opportunity as far as I know still exists and I urge that if you qualify to take advantage of it. Essentially, membership is only $55 for both new members and renewals for those currently unemployed. If interested, my recommendation is to call AITP Headquarters at 312-245-1070 and request the unemployed membership fee of $55 (ask for Melissa if she is available.) Most likely you will be accepted after a few questions. Contact me if you have any problems with this approach. Please note that the Chapter waives its fee for all new members as well as for unemployed member renewals.

The Chapter recently gained one new member - Ed Beitel. We thank him for joining.

.

FUTURE MEETINGS
============
We will continue to meet the second Tuesday of each month.
