Subject: January 2013 Networking Events

Ramsey JSWT Members:

Listed below are the upcoming
January 2013 Networking Events. All meetings are open to the public, plus you
are welcome and strongly encouraged to attend.

Many of the
organizations listed below offer networking meetings that convene monthly,
semi-monthly, or weekly. Try to attend at least one or two meetings a week.
Many of these groups meet in the evening, so it will not take time away from
your daily job search activities. Plus, they have interesting speakers who
offer valuable tips on: 1) Resume preparation, 2) Effective job search
techniques, 3) Interviewing, 4) Post Interview Follow-up, 5) LinkedIn, 6) Branding,
7) Time Management, and various other helpful job search related topics.

Also, in order to
maximize your network, try to attend meetings in different geographical areas,
but especially in towns where you are targeting companies that you would like
to work for. Not only will you learn valuable job search skills, but greatly
expand your circle of friends. Who knows, the person you meet at one of these
networking events may be able to introduce you to a hiring manager at one of
your target companies.

For a list of networking
groups in your target areas, check out Alex Freund's "The Landing Expert List"atwww.landingexpert.com.  This
outstanding compilation of both Small Job Search Work Teams and Large
Networking Groups contains 76 pages of information, listing hundreds of
transition support organizations in the surrounding five states. Make it a
point to join a few groups in your area; what you learn at these meetings will
definitely help shorten your time in transition.

If anyone is aware of an
upcoming meeting not mentioned, please let me know by next Friday and I will
gladly include it with my weekly updates.

I would like to wish
everyone a Happy and Healthy New Year.

Thank you,

Wednesday, January 2ndfrom 9:30 am - 12:00 noon:The Professional Support Group of Morris County (PSGMC) will host Rita Witherly, Managing Partner of MoZen Inc, who will give a
presentation titled: Body
Language.  It seems surprising, when we first realize that the words
we use count for only 8-10% of our communication and the rest of the message
you are communicating, 90% of it, is via your body language.  Having the ability to
read body language can make a huge difference in a successful interview. So
what messages are you sending during your interviews? We will discuss body
language cues and help you understand how to read the body language of others.
Knowing what to look for and how to use this information can be helpful in
getting hired. Being able to understand body language can help you ace a job
interview and it can help you excel at reaching your goals.  In this presentation you will learn what body
language is, how to read body language, and the power of first
impressions.  The meeting will be at the Parsippany

Opportunities.  If you're wondering
what the connection is between proper networking and the job search, it's this:
Your job search will be as successful as the network of relationships you build
to help you reach advocates. Networkers gain good, solid exposure by constantly
putting themselves out there and offering help or guidance as needed or
requested. That exposure translates into visibility, one of the most valuable
assets a job seeker can have. When you're visible, when you're a known and
recognized entity within a network, when you're comfortable about sharing your
personal brand with others, you effectively put yourself in the crosshairs of
recruiters and decision-makers. The more visible you are, the higher your
chances for making the strategic connections that need to be made to get you
inside the company's front door.  Join us
