AITP Members and Friends of the Garden State Chapter

Our next AITP meeting will be held on Tuesday, April 9 at Jim Johnston's Steak
House in Roseland.  We have chosen a topic that most of you probably know
little about, but always had an interest in - 3D Modeling, particularly
facial recognition software. I hope you can make the meeting, and please
consider bringing a colleague or friend.

Again, I kindly ask that you let me
know if you will be attending.

Please RSVP to Doug Hobby if you will be attending to reserve a seat.

Thanks,
Doug Hobby

3D
Modeling - the CyberExtruder Journey- Larry Gardner
=========================================
Our
speaker, Larry Gardner, will first provide us with an overview of his Firm's 3D
Modeling technology. CyberExtruder is particularly known for its reconstructive
technology that transforms 2D images of a person's face to 3D models. He will
explain how this technology works and how it is being used in industry both now
and projected. He will then take us through CyberExtruder's journey from a
startup to its current  status as a leader in identity management with
facial recognition solutions for the intelligence, security and law enforcement
communities.  The 'ride' had its share of up and downs and was quite
adventurous. The latter discussion should be of interest, particularly to
anyone with an entrepreneurial bent.

The Speaker
=========
Larry
Gardner cofounded
CybeExtruder with Jack Ives and Dr. Tim Parr in 2000. He has directed the
company from its startup: raising money, managing cash flow, and evangelizing a
new technology. Prior to founding CyberExtruder, Larry spent appx 30 years in
sales, marketing and senior management. He received his BS in Industrial
Administration, with a concentration in Mechanical Engineering, from the Un. of
Connecticut. He also owns a Master's Degree in Business Administration from the
Un. of New Haven.

PRESIDENT'S
COMMENTS
================
The
original speaker's topic planned for this meeting, "Threats to Data
Security in the Cloud," will be given next month when we meet at Alperti's
in Clark. This month's topic is a particularly interesting one and will take us
into a technology area that most of us are not particularly familiar with. I
think this is a good thing! We can use a respite from the cloud, networking,
and data related topics for at least a month.

Last
month's meeting on Big Data and Hadoop was a real hit! George Pace did a
terrific job introducing us to the topic, one of the hottest in the IT
business. The arrangement with Alperti's worked out well with the buffet style
dining approach. We will be working out a few kinks with Alperti's on the
arrangements in order to make the meeting experience even better. Also, I would
like to see George do another presentation to us sometime next year. What do
you people who attended think about the arrangements and George's presentation?
I would like to hear from you on those.

Best regards,

Brian Mecca
