Our direct insurance client located near Jersey City, New Jersey needs a Financial Analyst with managing experience for a full-time role.

The Business Analyst will be working within the Corporate Actuarial Department of a dynamic insurance company collaborating with finance and IT obtaining financial data to load into the group's financial reporting database. The candidate will manage Business Analysts and partner with Database Analyst team members, as well as Actuarial Analysts to carry out the functions necessary to support the actuarial reserving processes and corporate financial reporting. Other functions specific to this team are managing SOX controls, managing statutory data updates and producing various other reports. This is an exciting opportunity to get a foot in the door of a fresh thinking company with many opportunities to grow and advance in the insurance industry.

Responsibilities:
* Manage the flow of data from Finance/IT to Actuarial on a quarterly basis
* Identify, analyze and draw conclusions using financial reporting tools and the general ledger
* Streamline reconciliations and obtain sign-offs from team members
* Document business processes and best practices, including SOX reports
* Work on ad hoc projects and reports
Required Skills:
* MS Excel (advanced spreadsheet knowledge, formulas, pivot tables, MS Query, macros, etc.)
* Background in insurance, and accounting or reporting
* Ability to stay organized, manage multiple priorities, and respond to critical needs of the Actuarial, Executive, and Finance departments
* Managerial and supervisory experience
* Strong oral, written and technical communication skills
* Ability to perform in a fast paced and detail oriented environment, while seeing tasks through to completion
Desirable Skills:
* Knowledge of other MS Office products: Word, Access, Visio, Outlook
* Familiarity with COGNOS and SQL database functionality
* Ability to trouble shoot, problem solve and improve upon existing processes to enhance efficiency and data quality
* Ability to interact with senior management in a professional manner
* Background in finance or actuarial science a plus
