Position Responsibilities - Summary
This role is part of the FI Group. The Fixed Income Systems team is
responsible for providing front-office Information Services capabilities to
the firm's Fixed Income Investment teams. The team plays a critical role in
our firm's success by providing technical solutions that improve the
efficiency, speed and quality of the highly complex investment
decision-making process.
As a member of the Fixed Income Systems team, this individual will be
responsible for solutions delivery for Fixed Income Investment business. A
Senior Software Engineer is expected to:
Delivery of high quality business solutions;
Interface and coordinate with the broad Information Services teams to ensure
successful delivery;
Demonstrate strong project management and leadership skills with ability to
handle multiple activities in a dynamic fast paced environment.
Responsibilities:
* Interact with Systems Analysts and Investment professionals at all
levels of the organization as needed, to proactively identify opportunities
for new/improved systems to improve the investment process.
* Provide implementation of business process improvements involving
(but not limited to) investment process efficiency, data quality
improvements and simplifying investor work flow.
Required Skills and Competencies:
Technical Requirements
* Minimum of seven years of hands-on design and development
experience in commercial environments
* Demonstrated experience developing Java applications. Plus if
there is strong experience with Swing, Multi-threading, and problem-solving
for production incidents.
* Demonstrated expertise in database technologies
* Demonstrated experience with UNIX/Linux environment
* Knowledge of common design patterns and their application
* Experience with, and demonstrated understanding of modern
software innovations and techniques.
Non-Technical Requirements
* Degree in Computer Science or directly related field
* Excellent written and verbal communications skills
* Willingness to work independently in an energetic, fast-paced,
business-critical and team oriented-environment
* CFA or working towards CFA is a strong plus.
* Demonstrated experience in problem-solving skills and delivery of
quality solutions with good mathematical acumen.
* A strong team player, with ability to work in collaboration across
teams.
