Manager – F/X Trading Platforms  
 

My client seeks an experienced manager to oversee our Foreign Exchange (FX) trading application group.  The ideal individual is someone who has primary knowledge of FX trading platforms and related technologies but who is also familiar with Equity, Fixed Income, Mutual Funds and Securities Lending Trading platforms and functions.    The individual should have a significant amount of experience working with these types of trading platforms and leading technology projects related to these areas.   The individual will need to have a strong grasp of the Foreign Exchange and Brokerage businesses and be comfortable working closely with traders and relationship managers to identify needs and develop proposed solutions to address those needs. 
 
This individual will take a lead role in overseeing the Foreign Exchange Systems team and will be directly responsible for all of the initiatives that fall within this division.    The individual must be able to demonstrate a solid understanding of the various technologies typically used to develop trading platforms and help to review and confirm application design.   In addition, this individual will be responsible for general project management for the FX group and be able to work with business counterparts to prepare an annual budget and manage to that budget throughout the year.  We would also like this individual to review and provide constructive feedback on the other trading groups within the Trading Platforms cluster as time permits (eg: Brokerage, Mutual Funds & Sec Lending).  Lastly, the individual must be comfortable working with and presenting to senior committees.
 
 
Specific skills required include:
 
•           Strong group management and project governance skills. 
•           Strong presentation skills (both oral and written) and a track record of preparing presentations and delivering them to senior audiences.  
•           Experience with the following topics and related software:
o          Foreign Exchange Trading (Platforms and Business)
o          Brokerage Trading (Equities & Fixed Income Platforms and Business)
o          Mutual Fund Trading  (Platforms, technologies and Business)
o          Securities Lending (Platforms, Technologies & Business)
 
•           Any experience with the following technologies are a plus:
o          Distributed Architecture & Infrastructure (Windows and Unix)
o          Java (J2EE), COBOL,
o          IBM Websphere, MQ Series
o          DB2, Oracle DBMS
o          Market Data Providers, Products and Interfaces (Reuters, EBS)
o          Knowledge of FX Liquidity platforms such as FXAll
 
Ideal candidate will have notable successes in designing, developing and implementing FX trading systems and have a good working knowledge of the FX business.  Additional knowledge of Brokerage, Mutual Fund and Securities Lending applications & platforms and knowledge of those businesses is also a highly desired. 
•           Strong interpersonal skills is also a must as this candidate will be working with several teams in this role and will need to work in a collaborative way to influence others to his ideas and to be responsive to his needs.
•           Demonstrated ability to introduce ideas and innovations into his work.
