term Contract (Mid Town NYC) - 740/day c2c

Job Title: Capacity Planning Engineer (Contract NYC)

This role is responsible for developing automation for the process to
gather performance data to perform application capacity reporting.

In addition, this role also includes responsibilities for building charts
and graphs using capacity planning techniques.

Requires highly technical, hands-on individual, knowledgeable in
performance monitoring; and capacity planning methodologies.

*Roles and Responsibilities:*

- Develop scripts and processes around performance
gathering/collecting.
- Build capacity and performance reports/charts/graphs
- Analyze performance issues for root cause analysis.
- Data mining on performance data for capacity planning
- Willingness to learn and become performance and capacity tools
expert.
- Evaluate architectural designs around application which will be
supported.
- Familiar with Unix/Linux command lines (ps, top, sar, vmstat,
iostat, netstat, prstat, pmap, and etc.) to evaluate performance
for health
checks.
- Familiar with system statistics and terminology such as %cpu, %wio,
%idle, avmem, cachedmem, buffermem,
- Familiar with OS subsystem such as Memory subsystem, I/O subsystem,
Process Scheduling Subsystem, Networking Subsystem and etc…
- Write SQL code/statements to perform ETL process into the database.

Design database for data warehousing of system performance and application
data.

*Qualifications**:*

1. Must have 3-5 years of experience with automation via tools or
scripting.
2. Must also have 3-5 years capacity planning and performance
experience.
3. B.S. in Computer Science Degree from an accredited
college/university.
4. Excellent verbal and writing communication skills.
5. Ability to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities.
6. Able to analytically and creatively think out of the box.

1. Monitoring and Capacity & Performance Tools such as Precise, Tivoli,
BMC Patrol, Hyperformix, TeamQuest, NetIQ, Nagios, Ganglia, RRDTool, R
