Position Responsibilities – Summary
As member of the Investment Administration Development Team, this individual
will be responsible for the design, development and maintenance of
applications within Derivative Operations Systems. In this role, the
individual will participate in all development activities to successfully
deploy new systems and enhancements, and work with colleagues and end users
to design, develop and implement solutions to meet business requirements.
The Senior Software Engineer will also assist other team members in
supporting and maintaining various other DOS suite of applications.
Key Responsibilities:
· Participate in architecture, design, implementation, deployment,
and support efforts.
· Work with business team members, project managers, and systems
analysts to review and qualify business requirements, functional
specifications, use-cases, and test plans
· Design, prototype and code new software components and
applications based on functional specifications.
· Coordinate with analyst teams to execute test plans and provide
support during user acceptance testing.
· Modify and enhance existing systems to incorporate new
functionality and to optimize them for performance.
· Provide day-to-day production systems support including
monitoring, trouble-shooting and fixing problems as they occur.
· Work with other software engineers to design and implement
application features, including user interfaces, and business functionality
enhancements.
· Author technical design and support documentation.
Required Skills and Competencies:
· Leadership, technical, and systems analysis skills
· 4+ years related work experience with full project lifecycle
· 4+ years of proven object-oriented software design and development
experience
· Experience with financial transaction-based applications preferred
· 4+ years of proven design, development, and architecture
experience in Java-based technologies
· 4+ years of proven software development experience with
browser-based applications and technologies
· 3+ years of proven experience with such technologies as web
services, XML/XSLT, Struts Framework, log4j, ANT, Spring Framework, Perl,
DataStage
· 3+ years leading engineering teams on complex projects
· Proven experience in building technology solutions to satisfy
complex business needs
· Must possess Oracle SQL, SQL tuning, and PL/SQL skills
· Must be comfortable working in a Unix/Linux environment
· Experience using and deploying to industry-leading application
servers such as Tomcat
· Experience with various software development methodologies, such
as Agile or RUP
· Must be comfortable with test driven development and Continuous
Integration (JUnit, Hudson, Code Coverage, CAST)
· Willing to work in an energetic, fast-paced, and team-oriented
environment
· Proven ability to support multiple applications simultaneously

The successful candidate will be part of a team that develops and delivers a
wide variety of standard and ad hoc revenue and incentive compensation
reports and analysis for senior management teams across the firm. This
individual will support the team from a technical standpoint, overseeing the
data environment leveraged for reporting and analysis. In addition, this
individual will also lead projects to enhance the data environment and data
processes and will be the point person for the team in regards to firm wide
technology projects that will impact the team. Key to this role is the
candidate's ability to own a complex data environment and to continually
enhance that environment for the benefit of the reporting and analysis
produced by the team.
The position will require the candidate to build strong working
relationships with team members and across different groups within Finance
and the firm. The candidate must be self-motivated, have proven technical
experience as well as analytical and data mining skills, and be adept in
working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Key Responsibilities:
· Own the preparation and maintenance of the revenue and incentive
compensation data environment used to produce the reporting and analysis
created by the team.
· Lead and collaborate with team members and individuals across the
organization on enhancing the data environment and data processes leveraged
by the team. This will include meeting with individuals from around the
firm, prioritizing projects, and developing project plans and relevant
updates.
· Assist the team providing financial support to the firm's various
business areas including Investment Management, Product Management and the
Global Relationship Group. Responsibilities will include developing
reporting and analyses, production and delivery of presentations to senior
management and the preparation of ad hoc analyses for the business areas.
Required Skills and Competencies:
· Proven ability to master new tasks quickly and make
recommendations on improving systems and business processes
· Track record of solving problems, primarily by
leveraging/developing systematic scalable solutions
· Highly proficient in Excel, Access (or other database tool) and
SQL; Crystal Reporting and PowerPoint a plus
· Demonstrated ability to deliver work products with overlapping
deadlines
· Effective communication (verbal and written) and presentation
skills
· 5-10 years of reporting/analysis experience preferably within
Financial Services/Asset Management
· Bachelor's degree with strong academic credentials (MBA/CFA a
plus)
