Tell all of your young friends, children, Kids of Friends & Friends with Kids!

To all the 'Friends of the GenY Networking Group' - Thank you for your continued support!

I ask you again to spread the word of this unique networking opportunity for young adults.

The next session of GenY Networking Group will be held Wednesday, October 3rd,
7 PM, Library of the Chathams (see flyer attached).

One of the most basic, if not 'the basic' tool of any individual in job search, career exploration, general networking, etc. is your personal introduction.  Often referred as your elevator pitch– Wikipedia provides –

An elevator pitch, elevator speech, or elevator statement is a short summary used to quickly and simply define a product, service, or organization and its value proposition.  The name "elevator pitch" reflects the idea that it should be possible to deliver the summary in the time span of an elevator ride, or approximately thirty seconds to two minutes.  In The Perfect Elevator Speech, Aileen Pincus states that an elevator speech should "sum up unique aspects of your service or product in a way that excites others".
Do you have the necessary elevator pitches required?  Examples – 15 second, 30 second, 1-2 minutes?  Does your introduction come across in a flowing and natural manner as opposed to some 'robo-call' message?  Are you providing a teasing hint to the value you would bring to a new opportunity?  If you answered 'no' to any of the above questions you need to attend the upcoming GenY networking meeting!

Our guest for this meeting is Jeffrey Luft, who will present – The Art of the Elevator Pitch

·         What is an elevator pitch and why do we use it?
·         What should I include in my elevator pitch?
·         Where do we use the elevator pitch?

These and other elements of the elevator pitch will b discussed, with ample opportunity for you to deliver/evaluate your own introductions.

About Jeffrey Luft–

·         Director- supply chain, logistics, operations
* Programming Chair, NJ Roundtable at Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals (CSCMP)
·         A Global Supply Chain leader who has negotiated agreements between parties and helped to bridge the gap between business differences
·         "It all starts with the introduction."

I am confident that you will enjoy this evening, and that Jeff will not disappoint - so please plan to attend and spread the word.

TO BETTER PLAN FOR THIS MEETING --- PLEASE RESPOND TO THIS EMAIL & CONFIRM YOUR ATTENDANCE

*** 2012 Calendar- Future meeting dates – Oct 17, Nov 7 & 21, Dec 5 & 19 ***

If you have attended this group in the past and found the evening to be both rewarding and informative please spread the word, and invite a fellow Millennial.
Finally for all the 'Friends of GenY', if you know a twenty-something (or early thirty-something) who could benefit from a forum dedicated to the specific dynamic of Generation Y please forward this email.  For more information see the group's Facebook - GenY Networking Group, or contact me.

Regards, joe f
