RamseyJSWT Members:

Listedbelow are the upcoming March 2013 Networking Events. All meetings are open tothe public, plus you are welcome and strongly encouraged to attend.

Manyof the organizations listed below offer networking meetings that convenemonthly, semi-monthly, or weekly. Try to attend at least one or two meetings aweek. Many of these groups meet in the evening, so it will not take time awayfrom your daily job search activities. Plus, they have interesting speakers whooffer valuable tips on: 1) Resume preparation, 2) Effective job searchtechniques, 3) Interviewing, 4) Post Interview Follow-up, 5) LinkedIn, 6)Branding, 7) Time Management, and various other helpful job search relatedtopics.

Think of these meetings as opportunities, sort of like going toschool, to learn something that can reduce your time in transition by learning jobsearch and interviewing skills needed to excel and standout from your competition.

Also,in order to maximize your network, try to attend meetings in differentgeographical areas, but especially in towns where you are targeting companiesthat you would like to work for. Not only will you learn valuable job searchskills, but greatly expand your circle of friends. Who knows, the person youmeet at one of these networking events may be able to introduce you to a hiringmanager at one of your target companies.

Intraveling to these meetings, think about car pooling. Not only will it reduce the cost of drivingthere, but the friendly conversation will make the ride seem to go much faster.

Fora list of networking groups in your target areas, check out Alex Freund's The Landing Expert List at www.landingexpert.com. Thisoutstanding compilation of both Small Job Search Work Teams and LargeNetworking Groups contains 76 pages of information, listing hundreds oftransition support organizations in the surrounding five states. Make it apoint to join a few groups in your area; what you learn at these meetings willdefinitely help shorten your time in transition.

Ifanyone is aware of an upcoming meeting not mentioned, please let me know and Iwill gladly include it with my weekly updates.

Thankyou,

Tom Donohue
