Our client, a longstanding and well-known family-owned business in the specialty foods industry, seeks a Finance Director to lead the company’s financial planning, forecasting and budgeting processes. With revenues exceeding $150 million annually, the company continues to expand and seeks a proven finance leader accustomed to working with an Executive Team.  Retail or hospitality experience, IT knowledge, CPA and/or MBA preferred.
 
Overview: The Finance Director designs, recommends, implements and maintains effective policies and procedures to ensure GAAP compliance. Ensures the safeguard of company assets via an established system of internal controls. Directs the development and implementation of new systems/automation and related policies and procedures to increase efficiencies. Responsible for business and financial strategies, analysis of operating results and new business opportunities, supporting strategic and business planning processes including capital budgets, forecasting and financial control models.
 
Duties & Responsibilities:
·         Manages accounting staff, including accounting policies and procedures.
·         Financial statement preparation and analysis, including financial reporting.
·         Conducts tax planning and forecasting, develops tax strategies, ensures compliance with all tax regulations; consults with outside accountants. Coordinates tax planning and financial reporting with external auditors.
·         Conducts financial risk analysis and proposes mitigation strategies.
·         Review month-end closings, supporting schedules and subsidiary ledgers.
·         Establish and maintain cost accounting standards.
·         Supervise executive payroll and monitor all payroll-related matters.
·         Budget preparation and variance analysis.
·         Responsible for due diligence, asset management.
·         Maintain successful relationships with Executive Team members, banks, external auditors, etc.
·         Participation in IT contract management, including planning, execution, monitoring and support of IT-based initiatives.
 
Requirements & Qualifications:
·         Minimum of 10 years’ progressive experience in accounting, business development, finance and strategic planning, including core competencies in budgeting and reporting, financial modeling and analysis, capital budgeting, corporate accounting.
·         Minimum of 5 years in a senior position, with demonstrated ability to work with senior management.
·         Solid management skills; a proven leader in training & developing a high-performing finance team.
·         Knowledge and experience in IT contracts and initiatives highly preferred.
·         Retail experience with companies with revenues of $50-$250 million.
·         CPA or MBA preferred.
·         Experience working for a family-owned business preferred.
·         Expert knowledge of Excel (Access or Sage financial software, i.e. MAS 500, etc., a plus.
·         Strong knowledge of the tax environment, i.e. federal, state, etc.
·         Strong interpersonal skills. A good listener, able to build relationships, with outstanding interpersonal influencing qualities and a natural, effective consultative style.

* Produce performance reports and executive summary reports monthly.
* Conduct scheduled safety meetings with the shift managers and dock workers on a regular basis.

* Responsible for customer service by proactively looking at their operational needs and communicating either directly or via staff.
* Ensure all contractual metrics for inbound and outbound processing, and inventory control, etc., are consistently met or exceeded.
* Responsible for maintaining a high level of accuracy (99.5%) on all outbound shipments in order to avoid claims.
* Must be able to operate in an efficient/cost conscious manner so that all budgeted objectives are achieved.
* Maintain a clean and organized facility that is “tour ready" at all times.
* Work closely with senior management on all Human Resources issues.
* Monitor yard activity, trailer aging and avoid potential detention/demurrage charges by reviewing daily yard checks.
* Oversee the supply inventory for all customers in the building and the janitorial supplies required to keep the facility sanitary.
* Manage the facilities housekeeping program to ensure all areas are continuously free of all debris.
* Create and maintain a well-trained staff that could be promoted through cross training and mentoring.
* Market development planning and customer interaction.  REQUIREMENTS
* 10+ years warehouse operations experience, specifically receiving, put-away, pick & pack, and shipping.
* Must have extensive experience in WMS and preferred TMS and YMS experience.
* Proficient in evaluating drayage and warehouse operational matrix.
* Experience in working in a multiple client and/or multiple facility operation.
* Strong tactical (hands-on) management experience.
