Turning Lemons into Lemonade: Overcoming a Bad Performance Review
There are times when an employee nervously enters the performance review anticipating bad news; he has seen the signs. Other times, employees are completely blind-sided and shocked to receive a poor or below-satisfactory evaluation. Either way, it stings. Before you get defensive and catapult a situation from bad to worse, take a deep breath and follow these tips. Read more » JOB PULSE NEWSLETTER

CLIENT TESTIMONIALS
"This looks amazing! I love it. You did such an amazing job capturing the feel of what I do. It's as though you have known me forever!" – GC
"Thank you. I think this looks great! It's beautifully laid out and does a good job of summarizing my experience." – MB
"You have been such an integral part of my job search, which culminated with an offer from my top choice firm within one month. I was amazed at how thorough you were in tailoring my resume to fit my target position." – KB
QUICK TIP
An employee's ability to get along with others in a professional setting has become more valuable to companies as teamwork and cooperation represent the keys to operational and financial success. Improving as a teammate can come down to simply being respectful of the time and contributions of others. Be conscious of how clear you are communicating and how you interact with others in your group. As a result of your self-awareness, you will be a better teammate, which will benefit your group and wider organization.
• DO: Under-Promise & Over-Deliver: If you want to be perceived as a great teammate, you will need to do your part. It is important to take your deliverables seriously, which means delivering on time. If you are ever delayed, let everyone know your new estimated time of completion.
• DO: Over-Communicate: In order to be a better teammate, follow a few of the following best practices in communication and see your value appreciate as a valued member of your group or organization. 1) Summarize meeting follow-ups and action plans with an email; and 2) use telephone communications whenever possible.
• DON'T: Delegate Indiscriminately: If the responsibility of delegation falls on you, you must do so with careful thought and planning. Delegating without any regard for the person assigned to do a certain task can lead to disastrous results and discord within your team.
• DON'T: Point Fingers or Assign Blame: Don't take too much credit for a job done well when others contributed and do not deflect blame away from you when projects do not go as planned.
