Job Description: High Content Screening Specialist

The Support Specialist will support and manage client-server software,
integrating High Content Screening data acquisitions and assay informatics
workflows in R&D. Responsibilities include

Provide primary support for HCS informatics incidents, escalated from a
general scientific help desk (Tier 1 support). Perform trouble-shooting and
determination of root causes, in situations where a collection of separate
systems are linked.
Interact with laboratory instrument owners and primary users to clarify
current and recurring issues.
Directly address software integration issues and escalate issues to
external vendors or internal developers when necessary.
Plan, deploy, and maintain Client-managed Cellomics HCS informatics
services. This work involves executing previously established procedures
for instantiating additional systems in addition to planning, documenting,
and executing upgrades. Updating system documentation as needed. Work
includes configuring new HCS instrument computers to integrate with company
networked resources and deployment of client software on shared
workstations and employee desktop computers.
Test and document new software releases before production release.
Adherence to Client Enterprise IT standards. Document architecture,
instructions, and approvals for new deployments and system changes.
Application Administration: Create user accounts, provide data management
support, maintain application security, and ensure adequate growth of file
share and database storage to keep up with new research projects.
Prepare new and improve existing Tier 1 Knowledge Base documents for
general scientific help desk while also keeping HCS informatics
architecture documentation current.
Management of software licenses.
Work directly with Client scientists, commercial HCS vendors, and internal
IT staff for integrating new laboratory HCS systems with networked
resources.
Coordinate with users and systems engineers facilitating back end system
maintenance and service with the aim of minimizing disruptions to
scientific workflows.

Position Requirements
A high degree of curiosity and independence, needed to resolve complex
informatics issues in a multi-site, multi-tiered, multiple deployment model
system, with significant integration with other systems and laboratory
instrumentation.
Demonstrated ability to independently troubleshoot complex informatics
problems, where data workflows are linked by separate systems. Experience
in identifying root causes of issues that can arise within linked systems
where some may be misconfigured and/or not functioning reliably.
Knowledge of pharmaceutical research and the related application
environment. Preference will be given to an individual who is conversant in
Cell biology, especially with Cell-based fluorescence imaging assay
informatics requirements.
Effective written and oral communication skills in directly communicating
with Cell biologists, Tier 1 support personnel, and systems engineers.
Proficient at SQL for performing ad hoc database queries across multiple
tables with appropriate joins. This is a critical skill for trouble
shooting scenarios that can arise.
Experience configuring Window Server-hosted services, verifying Windows
registry settings, Windows-based scripting, and the creation of scheduled
tasks.
Experience configuring Windows oracle clients.
Knowledge of Active-Directory-based permissions and how to leverage them to
control access to services and storage.
Preference will be given to an individual with experience with the Thermo
Scientific Cellomics HCS platform.
