Job Description               A major Life Insurance Company with an office in Long Island City is looking for a Senior Business Analyst.
 
                                              Responsibilities:
 
                                               Reviews, analyzes and evaluates business systems and user needs.
 
                                               Formulates and deigns systems, scope and objectives based on user needs a thorough understanding of business processes.
 
                                               Writes detailed descriptions of user needs, program functions and steps required to develop or modify computer programs.
 
Skills Required                  4 year college degree.
 
                                                7+ years experience working as a BSA or relevant work experience in IT, Insurance, Banking or Investment Industries.
 
                                                 Project Management experience is required.
 
                                                 Experience with developing and interpreting metrics is required.
 
                                                  Experience with Lotus Not3es or SharePoint is a plus.
 
                                                  Offshore Management, Lotus Notes Integration and Financial Management experience is a plus.

Description:
Responsible for managing cross-functional teams to deliver defined project outputs on time, within budget, and with quality results. The assignment will consist of large enterprise-wide, cross-divisional (business and IT at several organization levels) projects with a high degree of complexity and high risk. Project Managers plan, organize, monitor, and oversee one or more projects to meet defined requirements or business specifications. They work closely with others in project management to guide efforts toward achieving intended business results.
Project Managers have primary responsibility for defining, planning, tracking and managing the enterprise project, for identifying key resources and providing the direction they require in order to meet project objectives. They also ensure appropriate management, customer and involvement throughout the life of the project. Selecting the right person for the role of project manager is crucial to project success.

Major Responsibilities
- Determines project goals and priorities with project sponsors, project owner DPMO or Program
- Select team members; may not have supervisory responsibility (such as hiring and performance/pay reviews) but provides performance input to team members’ functional managers and/or the DPMO /Program .
- May be responsible for one or more projects.
- Coach to clarify assignments and deliverables; mentor others in project management practices; review quality of work and manages integration of team members’ work
- Co-create a project charter with the team, including the definition of completion and success criteria.
- Manage and communicate a clear vision of the project’s objectives, and motivate the project team to achieve them; create a project environment that enables peak performance by team members.
- Analyze risks, establish contingency plans and identify trigger events and responsibility for initiating mitigating action. Oversee Risk activities. Gather stakeholder input and rank the top project risks in terms of total impact.
- Manage relationships with project stakeholders, including internal and external clients and vendors, keeping them informed of progress and issues in order to manage expectations on all project requirements and deliverables.
- Establish clear priorities among project activities.
- Works with EPMO QA to ensure implementation of PM standards, processes, and support services.
- Resolve issues related to client relations, governmental relations, project quality, project risk, and project safety.
- Manage vendor relations and procurement related to the project(s).

Qualifications
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree required
- Minimum 7 years professional business experience in the Health Insurance Industry
- Minimum of 4 years of prior PM experience preferably in healthcare
- Experience working with vendors and several cross-divisional stakeholders on large enterprise-wide initiatives

Additional licensing, certifications, registrations:
- PMI’s PMP certification required

Knowledge:
- Knowledge of health insurance industry is required.
- A technical background sufficient to understand the technologies and technical issues involved with the project and industry, to be able to anticipate and identify technical obstacles, and to make accurate technology decisions.
- Extensive knowledge of project management methodology.

Skills and Abilities:
- Competency in project management processes, including planning tasks and allocating resources, risk management, issues management, time management, financial management, HR management, working in teams, quality management, monitoring and reporting, documentation and record keeping.

Position Summary
Provide financial system and IT project management services to our client.  Tasks will include leading financial system issue resolution initiatives, and general information technology projects.
 
Required Experience, Skills, Education, Certifications
 
MUST HAVE:

3 â€" 5 year experience successfully leading financial systems and IT infrastructure projects. 
Demonstrated competence in project management disciplines, to include:
Project Schedule development using Microsoft Project, in collaboration with Project Team members (subject matter experts, key stakeholders, sponsors, etc.). 
Weekly (or more frequent if required) updates to the Project Schedule,  reflecting actual start and finish dates, changes in task durations, adjustments needed based on the dynamics of the project. 
Prioritization,  sequencing, assignment, and tracking of work progress.
Proactive issue and risk identification, tracking, management, and resolution. 
Weekly status collection and reporting â€" via both formal documents and status meetings.
Management to established quality standards.
Facilitation of team and stakeholder status calls. 
Effective interaction with stakeholders in highly dynamic and stressful environments.
Management of project scope, to include change control procedures.
Effective interaction with third party suppliers.
Demonstrated ability to scale the level of Project Management process discipline/formality to the needs of the project, the maturity of the organization, and expectations of management.
Demonstrated attention to detail.
Expert competence in use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Project). 
Expert competence in use of Microsoft Windows based computers.
 
STRONGLY PREFER:

Current Project Management Professional certification (PMP) from Project Management Institute).
