Hospital Oncology RN -Cancer Registered Nurse
Full time  - 12 hour shifts - Every other weekend required
Day and Night shifts availableWe are seeking compassionate and self-motivated Oncology Registered Nurses to deliver nursing care to adult and geriatric patients to expand services in our Oncology Unit. As an Oncology Registered Nurse with Bayonne Medical Center, you will administer or supervise the administration of chemotherapeutic agents in collaboration with physicians, use and maintain venous access devices, coordinate chemotherapy admissions with the admitting office and orient new staff to the unit. You will report to the Oncology Nurse Manager, Clinical Coordinator and/or Charge Nurse and supervise Patient Care Partners and other team members. You will also assist the Clinical Coordinator and Manager in the development, implementation and evaluation of performance improvement indicators to improve patient outcomes.

Tasks include:
·         Assisting in hospital programs which address cancer prevention, treatment and warning signs, educate patients and their families on chemotherapy, side effects, treatment plans and symptom management
·         Identifying stress in patient, family and staff behavior and help them to implement healthy coping strategies.
·         Advocating for patients and incorporating patient and family education on diagnoses and self-care into every treatment plan.
·         Documenting chemotherapeutic agents given on the chemotherapy flow sheet and providing patient reports to other staff
·         Assessing patients' diagnoses and initiating an individual treatment plan with each patient that includes specific outcomes and revising the plan as needed throughout patient treatment.
·         Recognizing and interpreting signs and symptoms, particularly those that require physician intervention and collaborating with the multidisciplinary team concerning patient interventions
 
Job Requirements
As an Oncology Registered Nurse with Bayonne Medical Center, you must maintain a patient-oriented focus, demonstrate a spirit of cooperation and respond to patient and family needs promptly and with understanding. You must possess superb verbal, written and telephone communication skills, be flexible to meet the staffing needs of Bayonne Medical Center, and possess great time management skills.
Requirements include:
·         Bachelor of Science in Nursing or current enrollment in BSN program
·         New Jersey RN license
·         ACLS, BLS, IV, and Chemotherapy certifications
·         Surgical and/or oncology nursing experience preferred.
·         BSN graduates with less than 1 year RN experience that have student nurse clinical oncology experience may be considered with appropriate transcripts, recommendations, and certifications.

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Nurse Manager to assume managerial responsibility for the supervision, direction, and support of the nursing staff in the Oncology Unit. As an Oncology Nurse Manager with Bayonne Medical Center, you will report to the Executive Director of Nursing; supervise RNs, Technicians, Unit Secretaries, and hospital personnel; and collaborate with Physicians, Case Managers, and Administration to provide comprehensive nursing care to patients with guidance and support for their families on a blended Oncology/Telemetry/Medical-Surgical Unit. The Nurse Manager has twenty-four hour accountability for the operational management of this unit.

Tasks include:
* Controlling staffing to meet budget guidelines and responding to volume change and to provide accountability and continuity of care in collaboration with the Patient Acuity System
* Conducting performance appraisals within thirty days of due date.
* Conducting departmental staff meetings on a monthly basis.
*Collaborating with the Quality Management Coordinator on identified care issues of the unit.
* Directing Clinical Rounds to assure positive Press Ganey Reports
* Reviewing patient charts for complete documentation
* Serving as a clinical role model for staff and students
 
Requirements include
* BSN required, MSN preferred
* New Jersey RN license
* BLS, ACLS, IV, Chemotherapy certification required, CCRN certification preferred.
* 5+ years acute care hospital nursing experience, Management experience preferred
