Job Title:  Project Manager                                                    
Business Unit:  Delivery Management

Position Incumbent: 
 
I.  Department Overview: 
 
The Information Technology Department is responsible for supporting all computing and telecommunication needs of the Catalent organization.  The Delivery Management Business Unit is responsible for defining, developing, and implementing IT projects in support of the global Catalent business community.
II.  Basic Function: 
 
Work with the Catalent business community and the IT organization to plan and execute projects.  This includes the definition of project goals and objectives, success criteria, expected benefits, roles and responsibilities, etc., typically in a Project Charter or Project Plan document.  Work with the respective organizational elements to prepare estimates for resources, hardware and software required for the proposed solution.  Manage the implementation according to the Catalent project life cycle, inclusive of communication, risk and issue identification, tracking and resolution.  Manage the project budget, including regular comparison of budgeted, projected and actual amounts.  Contribute to the development and evolution of the Catalent Program Management Office (PMO).
 
III.  Specific Activities, and Responsibilities:

Primary Responsibilities (90%)
·         Works with the project sponsors and business analysts to complete the project charter outlining scope, goals, success criteria, deliverables, roles and responsibilities, resources, budget, schedule and transition plan to support.
·         Engages the required parties to create project estimates.
·         Contributes to the creation of the Capital Appropriation Request.
·         Creates and maintains the work breakdown structure for the project.
·         Clearly communicates expectations to team members and stakeholders.
·         Resolves issues and solve problems throughout the project life cycle.
·         Be accountable for project results along with project sponsors.
·         Effectively manages the project according to the Catalent Project Life Cycle, and enforce project standards.
·         Manages project budget.
·         Determines appropriate revenue recognition, ensures timely and accurate invoicing, and monitors receivables for project.
·         Reviews deliverables prepared by team before passing to client.
·         Tracks and reports on project milestones to project sponsors, steering committee's etc.
·         Prepares for engagement reviews and quality assurance procedures.
·         Determines how results will be measured and complete a post-project evaluation to determine well the results were achieved.
·         Ensures all project artifacts are safely stored in the designated repository during and at the completion of the project.
·         Identifies resources needed and assigns individual responsibilities.
·         Ensures compliance with Quality policies and procedures, ethics and security requirements.
·         Ensures designated systems comply with appropriate Legal and Fiduciary policies and practices.
 
Additional Activities Performed as Necessary (10%)
·         Mentors team resources as assigned regarding team or project leadership topics.
·         Contributes to the definition and evolution of the PMO.
·         Identifies opportunities for process improvement, leveraging Operational Excellence where possible.
·         Represent Catalent at relevant industry conferences and trade shows.
·         Other tasks as assigned.
 
                  
IV.  Knowledge Requirements: 
Education or Equivalent: (Minimum required to perform job)
 
4-year degree in Management or MIS/Computer Science preferred.  This requirement can be met by a combination of education (4 year degree in another discipline) and relevant work experience (in the Life Sciences industry).
 
Knowledge/Skills Requirements: (List unique knowledge skills, or problem-solving requirements)
 
Requires a minimum of 10 years experience in the design and implementation of successful, global, large scale projects involving multiple constituencies.  Life Sciences experience is required, preferably manufacturing and financials.  Familiarity with project management tools and software packages is required.  Understanding of computer systems validation requirements is required, along with structured development life cycle methodology.  The resource must be an excellent team player, be capable of working independently, and be able to manage multiple projects and priorities.  Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required. 
This resource must possess the following skills:
·         Strong leadership, negotiation, vendor management, communication, presentation and problem solving skills.
·         PMI certification is a positive.
·         Strong interpersonal skills, including both written and verbal.
Proactive with the ability to function independently
