Key discussion points:
This job is for a person who already is working in the Medical/Health
Industry.
The person must be knowledgeable about the latest technologies in Health
Information Technology (HIT) and Electronic Medical Records (EMR) in current
or last employment position (within the last 5 years)
The person should have been in a role at some point in their career where
they were external client oriented. Dealing with "client" oriented
consulting, implementations and/or business process.
The person needs to be a very experienced "on-the-ground" Project Manager,
not a PMO type project manager.
The Nature and Scope of the Position:
The Project Manager will be responsible for managing through to completion,
all aspects of assigned Health Information Technology (HIT) projects,
including Direct and EMR related initiatives. This will include technical
and administrative processes as well as discovery, planning, oversight and
evaluation.
The Project Manager will identify and utilize "best practice" methodologies
and work closely with internal stakeholders, practices, vendors and
consultants to ensure successfully achieving project goals.
The Project Manager will ultimately be responsible for the assuring the
projects are on-budget, on-time and delivered with the expected value to the
stakeholders.
Main Responsibilities:
Project / Practice Management
1. Assesses stakeholder readiness, develops a comprehensive project plan,
and assigns resources as needed.
2. Develops project scope, goals, and deliverables that support business
goals in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders.
3. Creates and executes project work plans and revises, as appropriate, to
meet changing needs and requirements. Plans and schedules project timelines
and milestones using appropriate tools.
4. Identifies resources needed and assigns individual responsibilities.
Delegates tasks and responsibilities to appropriate personnel.
5. Manages day-to-day operational aspects of a project and scope. Liaise
with project stakeholders on a regular basis.
6. Effectively applies our methodology and enforces project standards.
Ensures Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are followed. Identifies and
manages project dependencies and critical path.
7. Maintain all appropriate project deliverables and responsibilities; for
example, project scheduling, risk management, change management, issue
management and status reporting.
8. Oversee all aspects of execution, including identifying and solving
problems that would otherwise delay project and or milestone achievement.
9. Assists in the resolution of issues and elimination of roadblocks arising
within a project to ensure timely completion of tasks.

Project Accounting/ Financial Management
1. Tracks and reports team (and vendor) hours and expenses on a daily basis.

2. Manages project budget.
3. Determines appropriate revenue recognition, ensures timely and accurate
invoicing, and monitors receivables for project.
4. Understands our pricing model and billing procedures.
5. Assures project legal documents are completed and signed.
Business Development
1. Identifies "add-on" sales opportunities as they relate to a specific
project.
2. Leads proposal efforts as directed by Sales, including project scoping.
Technical Understanding
1. Possesses understanding of application being implemented.
2. Understands thin client and client/server architectures and adjusts
project plan for additional or different tasks that need to be completed
based on the model.
Education:
Bachelor's Degree in a business or health-related field required. Master's
degree preferred.
Certification/Licensure
PMP certification preferred.
Health Care/Clinical industry background preferred.
Experience:
Five+ (5+) years of professional work experience as a Project manager in a
health-related field or facility (hospital, insurance company, physician
office). Varied work environments highly preferred.
Demonstrated ability to effectively manage people and resources. Experience
in managing complex projects.
Ability to manage client expectations.
Experience working on Electronic Health Record (EHR) implementations,
preferably with a CCHIT-certified system.
