Position: Senior UNIX Systems Engineer – NY

The individual will be responsible for the system design and implementation of large scale UNIX deployments. The candidate will be required to maintain and support a large number of medium to enterprise class systems according to existing procedures by utilizing in-house and standard UNIX tools, research and development of new technologies and best practices, implementation of complex and comprehensive solutions for enterprise applications, creating project proposals and system design technical documentation, design and implementation of Solaris Operating System, and building and designing servers that are flexible, upgradeable, and cost effective. There is ample scope for project work and development of new services and tools. Author and maintain technical design documentation and operational procedures including the use of diagrams, flowcharts, project specifications, and translations of user requirements to technical functions. Engage software development staff to design and troubleshoot applications in an enterprise environment.

Qualifications:
• Ten (10) years experience in UNIX/Solaris Systems Administration required.
• Excellent scripting skills, high level programming skills a plus.
• Project management skills.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, system and performance tuning skills.
• Excellent understanding and working knowledge of networking, storage integration, web technologies, and enterprise system management.
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
• Ability to handle heavy workloads with limited supervision.
• Proven leadership skills and knowledge of automating enterprise application deployments.
• Bachelors Degree or equivalent required.
