Position Description:
This position's primary focus is on assuring the accuracy and completeness of Liberty Science Center's financial reporting, budgeting, and planning activities process to support financially viable and achievable mission objectives.

Major Tasks and Responsibilities:
• Assist in and develop annual operating budgets and multi year financial plans working directly with and supporting the senior finance team.
• Coordinate budget compilation requests, receipt and updates, working directly with the senior leadership team and their respective budget coordinators.
• Develop and lead cross institution budget coordinator team to assure interdependencies and gaps are identified and addressed correctly and integrity of overall process.
• Generate, distribute, track and analyze monthly total, division and department actual versus budget variations, provide variation analysis and recommend appropriate actions if required. Provide reports to senior leadership team and other key stakeholders.
• Develop capital expenditure and cash flow budgets.
• Prepare quarterly reports including outlook analysis for the finance committee and board of trustee meetings.
• Assist in and develop further enhancement of budgeting and financial planning cycles including relevant measurements and benchmarks.
• Develop or assist in development of budgets and financial plans for center new growth initiatives.
• Maintain budget files in excel based worksheets and general ledger.
• Assist in and prepare grant budgets and related variation analyses.
• Prepare and or assist in project based budgets and related actual tracking.
• Prepare analysis and reports required for external requests including banks, other creditors and prospective funders.

Other Tasks:
• Other duties as assigned.
• Assist the Assistant Controller, Controller and director of Finance, and VP Resource Administration on special projects as requested.

Requirements:
The successful candidate will have more than 2 years related experience including general ledger accounting and analytical review experience required. Experience in non-profit and financial analysis strongly preferred. Strong knowledge of accounting principles, processes and related internal accounting controls. Proficiency in a windows environment including Microsoft Office Suite (especially advanced Excel functions) and strong computer skills. Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics SL / Solomon general ledger, FrX and Adaptive Planning data analysis, ADP reporting writing, and FAS fixed asset software a plus.

Experience/Qualifications:
The successful candidate will have critical and analytical thinking skills, and a strong ability to manage multiple priorities. He or she will be proactive and take initiative in completing the responsibilities of the position. He or she will demonstrate effective verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate with non-financial managers. Experience will include success in working with teams and cross organizational initiatives along with a record of producing effective financial and analytical processes and reports.

Education: Bachelor's degree in accounting and/or finance related field.

Department Overview – Last 2 years should be solid PM work growing through Java develop.
Equity Derivatives covers a variety of business lines, including Arbitrage, Volatility, Exotics, Fund Linked derivative and Convertible Bond trading. Trading desks are currently in London, New York and Hong Kong with Sales in offices worldwide. Equity Derivatives Technology (EDT) provides IT development and support for the Equity Derivatives business and currently has over 300 staff across London, Prague, New York and Singapore. One of EDT's main priorities this year is to upgrade its risk and trading systems.

Main Function
The Project Manager will run a Top 5 project to upgrade all of the US systems dealing with Listed products, including Futures, Options, other listed derivatives and stock, moving them off the current vendor platform (Sophis) onto an in-house built system. This US project fits into a global program and project and the candidate will report to the global listed project manager (London) and locally to the current US Listed Business Analyst.
Main Duties
In particular the candidate will
• work with the business analyst to identify, analyze, priorities and deliver key business requirements. The role will involve hands-on business analysis
• assist in the recruitment of the remaining team members consisting of developers, testers and production support staff
• Chair local stakeholder prioritization meetings and report progress, manage and resolve risks and issues
• advise and locally manage a small development team who additionally report into the global development lead based in London
• co-ordinate releases and work to resolve production issues with the local `Run the Bank' (Production Support) team

Functionally, he\she will co-ordinate the team's activities providing
• connections to listed execution systems to source trades
• trade booking and persistence functionality using an Oracle database,
• position management to upstream Risk GUI and spreadsheet consumers and other upstream and downstream feeds and connections,
• risk transfer process and reconciliation
• source\integrate static data systems.
The main developments will be Java services. This is a `hands-on' role, not one that requires extensive senior stakeholder management or high level strategic planning, managers demonstrating delivery experience and detailed knowledge and who have technical team lead experience will be given preference.
Candidate should be a team player, able to contribute to the overall project goals of the team and he/she should be comfortable working with local and remote team members. Candidate will strive to deliver high quality components and will be involved in all aspects of the project delivery including analysis, design, implementation, testing and deployment.
Candidates should be familiar with an agile methodology e.g. SCRUM and Microsoft Project

Primary skills:
Candidates should have strong project delivery experience gained in an investment banking environment, preferably with strong knowledge of a number of the following functionality\business areas:-
- Listed products e.g. Options, Futures (preferably Equity based)
- Real time Position keeping (ideally with risk related knowledge)
- trade lifecycle of derivatives
- exchange connectivity
- experience of moving functionality from vendor based systems to in-house systems
Candidate should have proven delivery record in a test driven environment. Experience of designing and building scalable, resilient, fault tolerant highly available systems desirable. Candidate should be able to demonstrate understanding of key issues around supportability in a production environment.
On a technical level, the project involves the following: Java, Coherence, Oracle, UML Modeling using Enterprise Architect, Jira and Sharepoint. Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate knowledge of these.
