How to Use Pinterest to Sell Your Brand

By Saabira Chaudhuri

Pinterest, the popular social photo sharing website fashioned around the age
old concept of the pinboard, has become a valuable tool for marketers, who
are using it to connect with consumers, drive traffic and increase brand
awareness.

The potential audience is huge. In just two years, Pinterest has almost 12
million monthly users. According to a recent report by Shareaholic, a
company that helps websites share their online content, Pinterest drove more
users to other sites in February than Twitter, which has 140 million active
users.

Pinterest allows users to "pin" images from the web onto virtual boards
organized by category or theme. Other users can then repin these images onto
their pinboards, enabling images to travel across the Web as more and more
users repin them.

The Benefits of Having a QR Code on Your Resume

April 9, 2012 . by Bruce Hurwitz
<http://www.careerealism.com/author/bruce-hurwitz/> .

Recently I had the privilege of offering a webinar
<http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UR1snEVYISQ> for CAREEREALISM readers. Near
the end of the presentation, I mentioned the multimedia resume portal Purzue
<http://www.purzue.com/> .

However, I neglected to tell the viewers about a unique aspect of their
service: They provide QR codes for the resumes
<http://www.careerealism.com/wrong-about-video-resumes/> on their system.

Of course, I'm making an assumption that everyone knows what QR codes are,
and you know what they say happens when you assume.

For those not familiar with the terminology, a QR (Quick Response) code is
the funny looking box that you see on advertisements and the back of
business cards, to name two popular locals. Scan one with your smart phone
and instantly you have uploaded the data the advertiser wants you to have.

How could something called a "Quick Response code" not be a positive
addition to a resume?

What job seeker <http://www.careerealism.com/job-seeker-skills-2012/> does
not want instant gratification?

See here why Bruce recommends QR codes:

Although we may never know why we didn't get chosen for a job interview, a
recent study

<http://www.businessinsider.com/author/marc-cenedella> research, recruiters
spend an average of "six seconds before they make the initial 'fit or no

The

'Sandwich' Your Networking Call
April 10, 2012 · by Andy Robinson·

Effective networkers give first and are always alert for opportunities to HELP their fellow colleagues, friends, business relationships, etc.
If you've consisently made a practice and habit of GIVING first (and giving often), it makes it much easier and much more comfortable for you to then ASK FOR SOMETHING from your network when the time comes.
In those situations, where you intend to ASK a network member for something, it's still a great idea to "sandwich" your ask between two gifts.
Try this process, the next time you intend to ask for something (or for help):
Step 1: Give First, Right Away in the Conversation
Offer something, share something, give them a tip or timely information about something that may be important to THEM.
Other ideas:
* Offer to send them a book you mention in the conversation.
* Send them a link to a article that will interest them or help them in some way.
* Review your notes from your last conversation and look for an opportunity to offer something useful they mentioned last time.
* Congratulate them on a recent achievement or accomplishment; encourage them to TELL you about it.
Step 2: Ask
Make your request and tell them CLEARLY and EXACTLY HOW they can help you. Give them ALL the information they need to enable them to BEST help you with your request. The easier you make it for them and the more information you provide them, the better they'll be enabled to help you.
Step 3: Give Again
ALWAYS ask these three questions:
* Is there ANYTHING I can help you with right now?
* Is there a particular type of resource you're looking for?
* Take a look at my Facebook or LinkedIn network, and please let me know if there is ANYONE I can introduce you to?
* Anybody else I can connect you with?
Finally, after the "Give, Ask, Give" Sandwich — give them dessert in the form of a final gift — send them a thank you note, a hand-written card, a recent coupon (e.g. Living Social) you received… something small but thoughtful.
Do this EVERY TIME… then watch the magic happen!

Get your resume to their inbox

Posted by: Brenda Mitchell | Posted at: 12:05 AM

If you're looking for work and creating a resume, you should not only
carefully review the resume, but also consider some tactics to make sure
your emailed resume isn't getting lost in employers' spam email filters.

If you're on the hiring side of the desk, check for the same problem, which
may be be preventing you from seeing the resumes of highly qualified
candidates.

When this post was originally written in October 2004, the Wall Street
Journal had just reported on this problem of the growing use of spam
filtering technology and its potential interference with emailed resumes
(excerpted here).

Spam-filtering technology has improved since then, while spammers have
changed methods, so we've expanded, updated, and republished this post to
help today's jobseekers with the following resume tips.
