Hi everyone,

We have some terrific seminars coming up at the library, and I invite
you to attend the ones that interest you.

*Jobseeker Special: How To Be a Great Presenter *(no registration for
this one; just come on in!)

Tuesday, Nov 20, 2012 7:00 PM
Westport Library McManus Room

Think you have to be funny to be a sought after speaker? Think a
PowerPoint deck with all the bells and whistles is a necessity? Wishing
you could be a speaker "like" Tony Robbins or Zig Ziglar? Think again.
Public speaking coach *Debbie Fay,*founder of Bespeak Presentation
Solutions, LLC, debunks the myths and _illuminates the realities of what
makes confident compelling change-making presenters and presentations_,
the kind who deliver presentations that audiences listen to, learn from
and LOVE. If you're wondering why we're calling this one a Jobseeker
Special, it's because it is so important for you to present yourself and
explain your strengths as well and as interestingly as possible, whether
you're networking, making phone calls, or interviewing. We can all use
more confidence, especially when we are talking to people we don't know.

*Jobseeker Special: Advanced Resume Workshop (Be sure to register in
advance with Mary Malenda at the CT Dept. of Labor. Space is limited.)*

Tuesday, Nov 27, 2012 9:30 AM - 12:00 PM
Westport Library McManus Room.

/I suggest that you park in the Upper Level parking lot, where there is
no time limit on parking. _ALL spaces in the Lower Level Lot are
limited to 2 hours, and we don't want you to get a parking ticket!_/

*Michael Shavel,*Certified Professional Resume Writer, presents this CT
Dept. of Labor workshop here at Westport Library to help you fine-tune
your resume. Space is limited, and *advance registration with Mary
Malenda, CT Dept. of Labor, at _203.455.2703_, is required*. Please
arrive early to sign in, and bring a copy of your resume to the
workshop. *Special just for people who attend this workshop: the
opportunity for a 15-minute private resume review at a later date. *

*Business Special: Computers, Tablets & Smartphones --- What Works for
You? *(no registration for this one; just come on in!)

Wednesday, Nov 28, 2012 7:00 PM
Westport Library McManus Room

As the lines between technology and lifestyle blur, the choices become
limitless and overwhelming. What works for you?

Does your business require a computer at a desk? Are you chauffeuring
kids, running errands and need to answer emails throughout the day? In
this workshop, technology expert *Bud Freund*will explore:

· Email - How can "really important" emails be safeguarded?

· Mobile computing --- Can a tablet or smartphone replace a laptop?

· Avoiding downtime --- Is paid antivirus software "worth it"?

· Software alternatives --- Are there solutions besides MS Office?

· Online research --- Can free web browser add-ons improve
research skills?

Freund provides tech support for small businesses, individuals and
families throughout Fairfield County. He has taught technology at
schools, businesses and privately. As a SCORE counselor and workshop
presenter, his information covers a broad range of self-help topics
including free software, networking, security and email solutions.
