Title: Project Manager
Location: New York, NY
Rate:Open
Length: 6+ Months
Start: ASAP

Background

My client has started a program of back office finance transformation, In the USA. Working with multiple agencies, we have initiatives to centralize some finance activities onshore, as well as other initiatives offshoring work to a 3rd party service provider. The work is high profile, with board-level approval and senior executive sponsorship.
In 2011 the client engaged 3rd party consultants to act as our experts. They have since built up our own small team to lead and drive the work. This team includes experts in IT, change management, finance business processes, service management, transition, and programme leadership. As our team develops, the 3rd party organization rolls out.
We need a transition manager to project-manage the work from the 'as-is' organization to the 'to-be' organization, at one agency group.

Responsibilities

Develop and execute the transition plan, including a strategy for moving processes to the offshore shared service center (SSC). The transition manager's work will be 'heavily local'. The successful applicant will make sure the right processes, expectations and behaviors are in place at each business to support the effective work of the SSC, and will coordinate all of the above so work transitions successfully.
Other main duties will include:
§ Interacting with outsourced service provider on transition matters.
§ Interfacing with 'front office' (business) & support functions (eg HR, IS).
§ Communication and making sure people are aware what's happening.
§ Making sure the activities and tasks to be performed (usually by people who will have other responsibilities and are not dedicated to this initiative) are performed in accordance with the transition plan.
§ Completing a Change Impact Assessment and following through on all associated actions.
§ Providing guidance to and consulting with the WPP project team, including program management, HR & Change leads.
§ Being physically present on-site.

Deliverable
Successful and on time transitions with little or no disruption to business support.

Ideal candidate requirements:
Essential:
ü Transformation experience, preferably implementing and leading transitions into a Finance & Accounting SSC
ü Practical knowledge (or a well-developed understanding) of business processes within professional services organizations, ie familiar with project-based accounting for time and 3rd party cost
ü Proven ability to manage multiple projects/tasks effectively
ü Hands-on and willing to get into lots of detail
ü Successful influencer, with the ability to build rapport, then change the way that people work and the way people want to work
ü Proven change management experience, with ability to use a range of influencing techniques and awareness of cultural differences
ü Tenacious, flexible & quickly able to solve complex problems
ü Energetic and self-motivated
ü Strong numerical and analytical skills, written & verbal communication skills, with oral and written fluency in business English

Advantageous:
ü Operational experience in the Marketing & Communications or Research industry
ü A professional accounting/finance qualification, or significant work experience in finance-related activities
ü Consulting background
ü Experience working within a matrix structure, managing delivery to multiple competing companies.
ü Previously held leadership roles, including managing teams.

Prime areas of complexity
1. The change management required to transform the finance organization, while supporting business operations in their legacy state and while a number of employees are preparing to exit.
2. Establishing touch points and effective relationships with the SSC.
3. Management of (sometimes conflicting) stakeholder issues.

If you are interested please email an updated version of your resume to Stephen.Zafarino@mondo.com .
