Position Overview
This position is all about big data, loading it, analyzing it, delivering it. You would become a master of generating and sending thousands of reports that process hundreds of tera bytes of data every day. You will learn to optimize query and reduce run times on various database technologies, such as RDBMS and Column Oriented Data Stores. You would become proficient in Cognos, architecting and designing its sematic layer, implementing reports and mentoring other developers on the system.
This position is Full Time and located in our New York City headquarter offices.
Specific Responsibilities
• Using diverse technology knowledge and a sense of curiosity to explore new and better ways to solve problems
• Define report development standards and processes that will help ensure data quality and will enable seamless integration with our current automated testing framework
• Develop Cognos framework manager model adjustments to accommodate new and existing business requirements.
• Defining and developing Cognos Semantic Layer
• Optimizing reports and queries to run over billions of records
• Implementing loading and exporting DWH tools in python
Position Requirements:
• Experience in of administration, framework and reports development over Cognos BI framework
• 5+ years of related experience in BI and data warehouse systems: architecting, designing, and modeling of data
• Proficient in the use of SQL
• Strong analytical and quantitative skills
• Attention to details
• Strong troubleshooting skills
• BSc/MS in Computer Science or equivalent degree is an advantage
• Good communication skills

Job Responsibilities
My direct client, an exciting startup software company, is looking for a smart, dynamic Data Analyst to join their innovative team. This position will require you to learn the ins and outs of the food and produce industry, as you work directly with produce and retail companies to conduct analysis and draw business insight from client data. You will be using basic statistics, standard deviations, regression lines and R2 values to analyze clients data and present it in an informative and visually engaging manner. You will be involved throughout the entire data flow process, from data quality testing, to analysis, and presentation. Finally, you will master an understanding of their flagship product and be able to clearly demonstrate its benefit to their customers.
Required Skills
A bachelors-level degree, preferably in the fields of computer science, business administration, communications, economics or mathematics/
Basic comprehension of statistical concepts and ability to utilize statistics and regression lines to analyze and interpret data
Must be comfortable with speaking in front of groups of people (typically these will be groups of 3-5 people, but occasionally they could be even larger)
Strong verbal and written communications skills. Must have the ability to explain basic statistical terms and analysis to non-technical audiences, as well as technical audiences.
Ability to present complex data and analytics clearly and in an impactful manner to a wide range of technical and business users
Fast learner, with a willingness to learn, acquire new skills, and develop in-depth product knowledge
