Job Title:  Software Interface and Requirements Analyst
Location:  NYC  
 
Job Description
 
Duties of the Analyst include, but are not limited to: interviewing stakeholders and system developers in order to generate software Interface Design Documents (IDDs).
 
Approximately 15 IDDs of low to medium complexity need to be generated.  Most of these IDDs are to document the interfaces tothe Client's existing systems.  Some are for new systems and interfaces which are being developed.  The interface types include file transfers, database read/write, and inter-computer.  These systems are of the business and scheduling nature, not scientific nature.
 
The Analyst must be able to evaluate the information provided by the system developers to determine if sufficient technical detail has been provided to generate an IDD.
The Client has created an internal Data Item Description (DID) for these IDDs which was based on (and improved upon) existing DID.   The Client has also created an IDD document template in Microsoft Word.  At least one of these IDDs has been completed (using the DID and template), and can be used as a guide for the remaining IDDs.
 
Qualifications Requirements:   B.S. in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science.
 
Experience Requirements:
·         Software design, including writing Software Requirements Specifications, preferably with real-time embedded systems.
·         Software development, preferably with real-time embedded systems.
·         Software interface design and implementation.
·         Relational database design (for example ORACLE or SQL Server)

Job Description
Seeking a Concept DefinitionSystems Engineer or Business Analyst to assist with the definition of complex systems to support and improve the Client's ability to deliver quality transit service efficiently. Candidate will take an active role in analyzing current operating processes and systems, identifying Operations stakeholders' business needs, recommending system capabilities and changes to processes, and documenting the results to establish consensus.  The candidate will contribute to project design activities, including:
 
·         Business, stakeholder, and system requirements elicitation, analysis, decomposition, traceability, and management;
·         Concepts of Operations development;
 
Specific responsibilities include:
 
·         Lead and/or support stakeholder workshops and interviews to understand existing processes, capture business and stakeholder needs and requirements, and review developed design materials. Coordinate sessions; contribute to development of materials (presentations, charts, text, etc.); assist with facilitating sessions; and take careful notes and minutes.
·         Contribute to the analysis of stakeholder input and the development of planning and design documents, including Concepts of Operations, User Requirements, and System Architectures.  Analyze and synthesize input information; develop document content to communicate the resulting information including the use of graphical and/or diagrammatic content as required; and review and comment on the work of others on the project team.
·         Additionally, the candidate will lead and/or support the management of project tasks; contribute to scopes of work for Systems Engineering activities; manage project task progress, action list, and budgets; and manage consultant task progress and budgets.
Qualifications Requirements:
·         A bachelor's degree from an accredited college in engineering, engineering technology, transportation planning, computer science, business administration, operations research, public administration, urban planning/studies, finance, economics, or in a related field.
·         Strong analytical and decision-making skills and the ability to think creatively.
·         Excellent listening, verbal and written communication, presentation, and note- and minute-taking skills.
·         Strong attention to detail.
·         Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks and issues.
·         Strong Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Visio skills and the eagerness to learn new software tools.
Experience Requirements:
·         Experience understanding and documenting stakeholder input, with an openness and flexibility to others' ideas.
·         Experience as a participant in one or more aspects of the Systems Engineering process, including: business analysis; development of Concept of Operations documents; Requirements Management; system architecture definition; systems integration; and/or verification and validation. (desirable)
·         Familiarity with public transportation operating and/or maintenance organizations, practices and procedures. (desirable)
·         Working knowledge of system architecting, requirements management, and SE industry standards. (desirable)
